• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What would you buy?

I've been wandering the web for a Spyder.
I live in BC Canada and have been scouring the nether space for an affordable ryde! I like to have wriggle room when I buy and this will be my most expensive, dare I say it, bike purchase and probably my last!

Sadly the value of the Canadian Looney has plummeted so cavorting south of the border to buy is off limits! At the moment I have two possibilities in my sights. Both are GS/ RSS. One is a 2008 and the other is 2011. Both are non SE models. Both have low mileage, both immaculate.

But which to buy? Is there much difference between a first generation 2008 Spyder and a 2011?? What was changed in the intervening years?

Thanks Colm

Tough one..!!

They are both great rydes. Both having all the same charactaristics makes it a tough choice. If color or looks or extras aren't swaying you perhaps age can help you decide. :dontknow:

I don't remember which year they did it, but they did reduce stated horsepower rating.

Difficult decision. I would say give them both a good test ride if possible. Listen to your vibes as to which you like best.

For me, newer would be my choice given comparable mileage.

since the difference is 3 k , I would give the 08 the nod. My 08 sm has been excellent.

They are essentially the same machine. Only significant differences are aesthetic.

Well thank you gentlemen one and all! The lesser of two weevils has a higher screen and a backrest so hopefully that will satisfy her ladyship as she has become spoiled with the Glad Wing. I like the Wing but I've had a few unwelcome dismounts which unnerved me somewhat!
