• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What would Harvey's deluge be like in your neighborhood

Since we live here in the Catskill Mountains: it seems as if it'll just run off, and go find somebody at a lower elevation to annoy! :thumbup:

Tough call....

To general...I live on top of a hill but have a house above me. If it slides down it would mean I would also slide down and probably change zip codes....:roflblack: but everywhere there are high spots and low spots... I do remember living in Florida three times and getting hammered in all three areas...Central, Gulf coast and the east coast...:yikes:
 
Gives an idea maybe, but I don't think it's all that accurate. It shows places that are about fifty feet difference in elevation but only a couple of feet difference in water coverage. Water won't sit on top of a hill like a blob of Jello!
 
I tried the app and it showed zero. I have mountains on one side, and live on a hill about 100 ft. above the property below. Its going to run across my property, but I don't think I would get flooded out. :dontknow:
 
I got 3.7 feet! I can't even imagine that. Our weather guys here converted it into snow totals and it was 52 feet of snow. Can't imagine that either!!! YIKES!!!:shocked::shocked::shocked:

Talking about snow depths ... in Calif. this year , they closed Mammoth Ski area not because of lack of snow ....but because they didn't have enough people skiing to make it financially viable .... It was reported that they could have had skiing for 12 months non-stop ...... Mike :thumbup:
 
i dont think its accurate, it said i would have 3 feet of water at my house, i live on top of a hill that runs down to the cohoes falls if i had 3 feet of water they would have to have 250 ft of water

While this is true, it takes time to move down hill. There are many areas of Houston that are at higher elevations and got feet of water in them when lower elevations with better drainage did not. When you are talking miles, it takes days to move, not minutes and certainly not as fast as the storm can deliver it.
 
The areas I'm referring to are rapid elevation changes, hence my comment about water sitting like a blob of Jello on a hill. I live on the top of a ridge with a good size holler on each side. If we had water like the map claims, I can assure you that we would have an excellent chance of seeing a boatload of animals floating by as well!:joke:. Drainage in this area is very rapid towards the Illinois River and that is close to 100 feet lower. Might get some water in the basement but not in the upstairs area.
 
Well, the house I live in at the Apex, NC address would have 1.5' water, and the house in Rougemont would have 2.2' of water. Considering both are on a hill in that particular location, I would be fine.
 
The app is kind of the dubious variety. Not going to be accurate--but giving an idea based on the information input. Think GIGO. :thumbup:

The ski resort above me ( Mt Rose/Ski Tahoe) had 65 ft of snow this season. The last of it melted this week. It was the most ever recorded in this area that is known for big snow falls.

I honestly can't see where it would be 3.7 feet of water by me either. Lake Erie is literally 1 block from me--right at the end of the street. I get that it would spill over, but depending on the wind direction, Buffalo could potentially get most of the drainage....
