• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What was your first motorcycle?

My first bike was a new but really bad 1978 Honda Hawk. I rode it one year and sold it vowing never to ride two wheels again. I lasted about 3 months before needing another two wheeled machine. I am currently on my 15th bike since the Hawk. I love riding and ride as often as possible.

Ok... It was not a real motorcycle... It was only a moped but with a OHC, 4 strokes and three gears with a real clutch! And I was 14 years old!! Found the same one a few years ago but red, mine was blue in 1969!! Honda PS50.
Then a125CBS, then then...

1948 Harley Hummer

1948 Harley-Davidson Hummer 125 cc two-stroke, mud flap, colored cable wraps, crash bar, fender doo-dads, pinstripe decals. Amazing speed downhill with tailwind. Amazing brakes uphill with headwind. Don't ask about that bicycle headlight with generator.
Purchased in 1959, age 15, $175 (was that a deal, or what?)

Later had a couple of HD Sprint 350s, Sportster 1000, misc Yamaha street bikes, Yamaha Ventures, Beemer KLT, Gold Wing, Spyder RT Limited. 350,000 miles.

First home made Briggs Straton engine, cessna wheels no brakes no clutch kill switch wore out a lot of tires from drop starting
First purchased bike was a 1960's Honda 305cc Hawk. Then the list grows...

My first bike was a 1975 Honda XL250. I went everywhere with that. I was 15 years old. I stll have that bike. It was retired with 83,000 miles. I then bought a 1980 CB650 Custom. It was my only tansportation when I was in the military. Sold that bike in 1987 for $600.00. It had 84,000 miles on it. It was used for the next 4 years. It finally quit with a little under 120,000 miles. Next bike is a 2011 RTS Spyder.

Honda 50cc step through....I was 15 years old and loved that bike. I have 3 younger sisters, and when we were at out cottage up north...i would first take my 2nd sister 3 miles to the putt-putt golf, then come back get the youngest, then the middle...we would play golf and then reverse the process.....
that was the same bike i had. tried to think it was a dirt bike (cause i couldn't afford a real dirt bike)and i don't know how many times i flipped it in the gravel pit. those tires were just too narrow for dirt!!!!:cus:

here are some of my frist bikes,im on 53 now,

My first motorcycle was a 2008 500cc Buell Blast. Sold it not too many months after getting my 2010 RT. No need to pay for insurance on something I knew I wasn't going to ride much. bj

This is the wifes first 2 wheeler. She bought it and I painted it for her. It's a 09 Yamaha Vino125.

My first was a 2002 Yamaha Warrior. After that a 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300. Love our Spyder but wish it had the FJs power.

My First Ride

My "First Ride" was a 1965 Yamaha Big Bear Scrambler. It was one of the biggest bikes in town at the time, things have sure changed in 48 years. Did my first wheelie on this bad boy.........did my first over backwards in front of the high school at get out time on this bike as well. Yea, that got lots of cheers! Lots of road rash too. Had many bikes since most of them were Yamaha. I am riding a 1994 Vmax now but have my new 2013 RT Ltd ordered for spring delivery. Looking forward to the Spyder get togethers. Going to Ontario Spyder Riders Roadster Rally on Ottawa this July this will be my first event.

"You meet the nicest people on a Honda"

in 1969 I was 16 years old and got a 50cc Kreidler Florett, followed in 1970 with a 100cc Zundapp, 1971 a Jawa 350, 1972 a Kawasaki 750 H2.

My very first was a 1937 Indian just like the picture shows... I was in Magee Valley and went to the cycle museum and my bike was there. ( well, it sure looks exactly like it )
I acquired the Indian in 1951 from a Tire, wheel/frame alignment shop in Beatrice, Nebraska shortly after I graduated from High School in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1950 for a price of $650. I sold the bike 5 years later for $2,250. I now wish I had kept it as I asked the Museum owner what would he sell this one? ready... sit down, He said " I have one bid on the bike for $105,000". Oh well !

I just got sent some incriminating photos from a college partner in crime...
Here's that :cus: AeromacchiDavidson... Once we decided that it was no good on the street, we found out quickly that it was equally lousy in the dirt...IMAG0024.jpg
Next is my first DECENT dirtbike... a 1980 Kawasaki KX 250. Basically their KX 125 MXbike with the 250 4-stroker shoehorned into it. the lack of a helmet; I thought I had nothing worth saving in that noggin'. Maybe that is what has contributed to how I turned out! IMAG0020.jpg

Those later Sprints were pretty useless, but the original horizontal cylinder ones were neat rides. They also made good racers...road race, scrambles, TT, and flat track. Many a champion got started on them.
