• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What Type of Gas

Okay... So what is the deal with what type of Gas should be going into the Spyder??? I was told by the dealer that regular was okay, but I was always under the impression that Super was the way to go... So I kind have been just shooting straight for the middle and have been putting Plus in... What do you guys with more of a motor-head background think???

87 !

Run 87 .

If you have some kind of problem (which I doubt) like pinging..... then and ONLY then would you need something higher.

Anything higher than 87 is a waste of money. Period. We have discussed this to death here and at spydertalk.com. Many experts chimed in... and 87 is just fine.

Many of us have tried higher than 87.... and Spyder didn't run as well.

93 also sits in the ground longer.... because not many use it... so it loses octane with time... and gains moisture. 87 is the freshest gas you'll get.... because of the high turnover.

You will NOT gain power or MPG by running higher than 87. If the Spyder required higher... BRP would have said so in the manual... just like cars do.

There is no advantage to running higher octane in ANY engine that doesn't require it. Period.

If you're not pinging... ya don't need it.

Nice to hear a voice of reason out there!

Well.... even a broken clock is right twice a day! ;D

I've just heard this SO much lately that I'm no longer going to get into specifics very much on it and just be direct about it instead (who - me??? direct??? nooooo?).

Had to put Ultra in the Harley - boy I won't miss that! Putting mid grade in my car - the way prices are - it's bad! I'll stick to 87 w/ the :spyder:
