• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What to pack on your RT for spyderfest

Since it is getting close to time for spyderfest it would be great to get suggestions from the forum on what to pack (and more importantly what not to pack) on your bike! There was a very good article on this from one of the Spyder 5 members, but on the brp site there doesn't seem to be an index by which it could be looked up. So let's get the hints rolling! What tools, personal items, clothing articles, etc are best to take and to leave home! Opinions please! And limited to what an RT could reasonable carry! Thanks & counting the days!

Don't pack too many shirts.... you will be buying more at Spyderfest.
I pack one pair of jeans and wear the other... you can always wash if needed.
Don't forget your rain gear.
If you have a Garmin, download and install the dealer listing that is available on this forum.
If you have business cards with your info on them, bring plenty... easy way to give out and collect from those you want to be in touch with
Faran had started a thread on tools, small kit.... Lamont posted a link to the one he carries.... got it from Sears... I ordered it and it is small and great.
Don't forget your chargers for phone, camera, etc.
Oh yes, Camera

Just a small start... others will add their own stuff.

I'm glad that this thread has already started; I was afraid that I'd have to start it! What sort of overnight temperatures might we expect to see at this time of year?

Right now the temperatures are pretty mild in this neck of the woods 50's at night 70's during the day... one thing about Missouri weather if you don't like it just wait a bit and it will change.

I'm packing a Z71 for overall comfort for my wife there and back... and she can put the kitchen sink in the back seat if she likes.

I wouldn't worry about bringing non riding clothes as you won't have a need to wear them. One pair of shorts maybe to wear while you do laundry. Speaking of laundry the new laundry "pods" are great to carry with you. Just throw a few in a zip loc bag and you won't need to spend money on detergent when you do your laundry.

The only thing I will not forget to bring is my Spyder full cover.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

One of the guys that I am riding with to Spyderfest is planning on cleaning out his closet and bringing disposable shirts with him. I don't own enough clothes to do that

Walmart has tee shirts for $5.00. Sweat shirts run about $7.00. Rustler Jeans going for $10.00. When one gets dirty, just throw them away and get one of the above new.

Drop the "used" clothes off at a charity there... they cannot sell them unless cleaned, but they might partake in a pick-up service that takes old clothes and shreds them for other uses (and get some money for them). This is a very common way in which these charities make money -- since they don't sell all the clothes given to them.

Think about it...

Some of your car's floor insulation is shredded materials, as an example.

If you won't be pulling a trailer, pack like you are going backpacking. A couple of changes of clothes, essential tools, toiletries, and any personal items that are necessary. Be sure to remember the cell phone, credit cards, some emergency cash stashed away, a spare key where you can get at it, medications, and your camera. Don't forget the raingear and a fleece in case you need an extra layer...maybe even some longjohns. Too warm is better than too cold, and your riding gear should reflect that. Most of all, make a list. When you get back home and unpack, cross out everything you did not use. Jot down anything you wished you had taken but didn't. The next time, do the same. Eventually you will have the perfect checklist.
