• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What to look for when buying a used Spyder (2012)?

I just traded my 2012 for a 2014 (dealer demo with about 3000 miles on it). The 2012 has been almost without issues. My only suggestion is to make sure that the front shocks are adjusted to the fourth setting. I have several friends that have 2011 to 2012 RTs. One of them did not make this adjustment and he wore out his front tires in about 13000 miles. All of the others have adjusted theirs and all are still on their original front tires. All still look good and one is at about 23000 miles.

IMHO, I doubt the shock setting was the cause......I would bet the Spyder is out of alignment....then and after He adjusted the shocks.....................Mike :bbq:

He put on new tires and adjusted the shocks. After a few thousand miles, the problem seems to be gone. In the early days of the RT, this was occasionally a discussion item.

Great find Jen, Congrats! Enjoy the ride. The 998 is buzzier than an HD twin (I have both too). If it didn't bother you on your Harley, it won't on the Spyder. Its just different.
If it hasn't been done recently, get the oil changed and enjoy the ride. Oh, and don't fall prey and drink the forum koolaid, you made a good choice! [emoji106]

The 2012 RT is a Very Good Choice- Do the following to make it Great!
1- Get the BajaRon Sway Bar and install it- Best Mod Ever!
2-Get the Air Intake kit and Dump those Plastic Panels that COVER the cylinder Heads- Search to find the Mod.
3- Take off the 2 underneath lower panels to ALSO keep things Cool in the summer.
4- Get a Ultimate Seat.
Whoever Buys My Used One will Have ALL these taken care Of?nojoke

Amazed at the pprices of used spyders on the market

The 2012 is 10k. A similar 2015 would be 20k+.

(Thanks, Bob!)

I looked up on KBB what the price for that bike should be. $12,700 wholesale to dealer, and $16,755 for retail in excellent condition. So if that bike is in excellent shape for $10,000 that is one heck of a price! I'm amazed at what prices some people are letting these bikes go for.

Exactly. And, I didn't negotiate at all, that was his price. My top end was 10k, so I got really lucky. I figured I would be buying an rs-s for that price.

I didn't think I would even get one this year. I just looked at an absolutely mint gsxr750 on Saturday and had planned on getting that, but we will get the Spyder instead.

KBB is out of date. The vtwin RTs just are not bringing that kind of money any more. Not now that the 2014s are in the 17k range.

Well, apparently it was not the one that I thought it was. I just bought a "2012 Can-Am Spyder RT-S SE5." When the nice gentleman was showing me how the controls worked, I was thinking, "wait, this shouldn't have fog lights or rear speakers or adjustable suspension...ummmm." I gave him exactly what he asked for it. I now have a 2012 RT with 910 miles. Wow.

It's so beautiful. I'm so excited!!! Whooo hoo!! Yay Spyder!!!

Thanks! I can't wait. I am in NY now and need to get temp tags to take it to PA, where our bikes are. In my garage now are three bikes and a Camaro, so there is no room for this thing. I'm going to have to get a storage unit or something. Can't put the Camaro outside :O)

On Wednesday morning, after traffic, we'll head to PA. This should be a nice ride.
