• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What to expect if I attend the Can Am 10th Anniversary next year in Canada?

Thanks for posting.

I want to thank everyone who has posted about crossing the border between US and Canada. I have never gone to Canada and this information is helpful. The two times I have left the country I flew and went through customs at the airport. It sounds like I need to book a room now if I am going to go to the event.

A friendly reminder: you are not allowed to bring a handgun into Canada, period!

The border people will ask you.

Come on up drhunt204, we will show you a great time. The French Canadians are a real generous and fun loving folk. They sure do like to party. Most of my family are French Canadians and they sure do know how to make people feel welcome.:thumbup:

Listen to oldgoat, there are a lot of restrictions and not just on guns. Nunchucks, brass knuckles and pocket knives over 7cm, etc. are illegal in Canada.

Have a read: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-462/FullText.html

I would hate to hear of someone jailed for a mistake.

The requirement for an enhanced driver's license is Federal law and applies to all states. Some states, like Idaho, have gotten temporary exemptions but eventually every state will have to comply. It's my understanding the enhanced part of it has to do with the background and personal information that a person has to supply when applying for a driver's license. It's part of the security program of the Feds to prevent illegals and terrorists from getting DLs. What physically is different with the license itself I don't know.

You can expect that the homecoming will be nothing like a Harley event, and that is a good thing. You can expect not to find any vendors, they have never sanctioned them in the past. You can expect to have an awesome time, I know I will. If you are going solo don't be afraid to join up with strangers for rides and meals, you'll make lifelong friends.

 Amen... nojoke
When they ask you; it's MUCH better to answer them directly, with NO attempt at humor or confrontation...

...Don't ask... :banghead:

Travel to Canada means lots of money for US visitors!

I noticed today that there will be a 10th anniversary celebration next June for the Can Am Spyder in Canada. It is nice to speculate this winter about going but it will be a major solo trip for me from S.E. Missouri to this event. Has there been any other events held by Can Am at their main headquarters? I have never been to Canada before so this would be all new to me and the longest trip I will have been on with my Spyder. Any thoughts from more experienced Spyder owners would be appreciated about attending this event.

Remember ... unless the US-Canada dollar exchange rate changes between now and June ... which is highly unlikely ... the US dollar buys upwards of 30% MORE in Canada!

Hi Tom!
When are you and Allie pointing the bike North?
(We're leaving on Friday...)

Haven't looked that far in advance. Ali's surgery may put a crimp on things. Her knee is bone on bone, lots of pain. :yikes: Needing a knee replacement. :gaah: See the doc next Thursday for an update. Insurance, sucks, is throwing us a curve at this point. She is not a happy camper at all! :cus: Tom :spyder:

And be sure to call your insurance company well in advance and get the Canadian ID card too. No extra charge and not requested at the border but nice to have should there be an accident.

 I'm real sorry to hear that this is still a problem...
Here's to hoping that it gets worked out quickly... and SOON!! :2thumbs:

Visit to Quebec

For those of you going to Quebec, if you have not been there before, I have a foodie suggestion for you.
Most all restaurants, coffee shops, pizza shops or snack bars serve Poutine!

This stuff is absolutely killer, literally. It is so good, but truly artery clogging as well.

Take a large order of greasy French fries, sprinkle on a generous amount of FRESH sqweeky cheese curds and cover it all in a rich brown gravy. Wow is that a great taste, unique blend of textures and experience. Truly, you need to get it at least once, it is fun to eat!

Rats!!

I've lived in Montreal for 50 yrs & have never had it. I'm a Coeliac & can't handle the flour in the gravy otherwise I'm sure I would be addicted to it.
