What to expect if I attend the Can Am 10th Anniversary next year in Canada?

I noticed today that there will be a 10th anniversary celebration next June for the Can Am Spyder in Canada. It is nice to speculate this winter about going but it will be a major solo trip for me from S.E. Missouri to this event. Has there been any other events held by Can Am at their main headquarters? I have never been to Canada before so this would be all new to me and the longest trip I will have been on with my Spyder. Any thoughts from more experienced Spyder owners would be appreciated about attending this event.

Passport only takes 3 to 4 weeks plus whatever time it takes you to get the documents. A US Passport is issued by the US government. You may need a visa for travel to some countries which can take time. Canada is not one of those.

Passport.

Thanks for asking because that would be a first concern. However, I have been out of the country a few times and I have a passport. I have never been to Canada before even though they are next door to us to the north.

$$$$

bring lots & lots of money....
also, don't forget your PASSPORT...
JUST DO IT... you'll forever after have great memories....

Do you have a passport to get into Canada. I heard it takes up to 6 months to get one.
I got my passport this year and it did not 6 months to get it. I went to my local ( had a banner outside of building) post office, picked -up application, went to CVS got my picture, and got some other personal paper work, dropped off pass-port application @ post office, got my pass port in the mail about 2 weeks.

Do you have a Enhanced drivers license?

Check your local post office or DMV for passport info. Passport is good for 10 years. Deanna

Enhanced drivers license?

Deanna, I have never heard of an enhanced drivers license. I have a motorcycle endorsement on my Missouri drivers license. Is that what you mean by asking if I have an enhanced license? Thanks for responding to my post.

I'm pretty sure it has passport info in a chip on it. You hand it to the Border Control officer & he scans it. It saves having to have your passport with you when you enter Canada by road.

Not sure if they are still accepted.

I had a Quebec one & they stopped issuing them last year.

homecoming

I made a 4700 mile trip this past summer without any issues at all, other than a need to replace a tire at Pitbull. I have my (our) reservations for this and we are going from Knoxville.

You are closer than me :)

I want to go too but know I will have to wander around & see everything else I can & might as well while that far out. If budget will allow, thats the hard part:banghead:

I just renewed my passport and it took a couple weeks also. There is the choice of a booklet or a cheaper card version. I think the card doesn't work for overseas but would be OK for Canada.

I thought I heard some time ago that all the lodging near the Homecoming was pretty booked up though?

To answer your ?

This is a first for BRP...Spyder division...I have been to a couple of their owner's events in lower 48 and BRP does a first class job of putting together a fun time. But this Homecoming will be the "mother lode of BRP events)..Lots of folks with similar likes (Spyder owners)...beautiful country to ryde in...you will never lack for anything to do or anyone to do it with....plus BRP will have scheduled many events...for me I'm anxious to go through their museum as well as the factory where our fun machines are built. Look at their schedule of events to get a general idea of happenings.
Yes, you will need a passport...but you said you already have. I have traveled in Canada several times...but never to that area...I am from WA state so I'll have a few more miles to get there than you will...
I'd start looking for a motel in the area of the event now...also as time gets closer folks have to change their plans and rooms will open up.
Owner's/BRP events do not allow vendors...so you'll save $$ on farkles...(Spyderfest end of April will satisfy that 'itch'.)
Enjoy the dreaming part and then if the itch still needs scratched...JUST DO IT..
Happy New Year:thumbup:

Having been there, I can say everybody is very friendly. The BRP Museum is awesome, as is, the factory. The tours they give are very informative. Hopefully they will have the BRP store open. When we went 2 years ago they didn't. :gaah: Also, if you like trains. They have a wonderful train museum. :ohyea: It's on the other side of Montreal. Looking forward to the trip this June. Tom :spyder:

drhunt204,

An "enhanced drivers license" has information in it that is required to share with the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the purposes of border crossing is limited to Full name( first, middle, last) date of birth, gender, citizenship digital image( photograph) travel document type. I got the above info from my local DMV department.

I would check with your local DMV for an Enhanced drivers license.

**** I also have on my VT. enhanced drivers license my motorcycle endorsement***. You are welcome! Deanna

Thanks, Dee!

Given the choice between either obtaining New York's enhanced Operators Licenses, or renewing passports: we have chosen the former...

Bob, I have my enhanced drivers license & passport. So you are going with the New York's enhanced Operators Licenses? What day are you heading north( homecoming)?

I am heading north on Thursday June 1st, 2017, heading home on Sunday June 4th, 2017. Deanna

Passport

I live right on the Vermont / Quebec border and go into Canada quite often. I always use a passport for two reasons, if you
use a drivers license of any kind to go into Canada your driving record will show up and if you have any prior convictions
for DUI,C&N, or other serious driving violations they can and will turn you away. A passport check does not show driving records. Coming back into the U.S. has gotten to be pain in the a"" . A passport is so much easier. Some of the U.S. customs people like to make things difficult.
