• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What to do with old helmet

Donated to MSF ...

Couple of years ago we donated 3 full face helmets, 2 vented textile jackets, and 4 pair of gloves to the local Motorcycle Safety Foundation that operates a couple of miles away from us.

They were VERY pleased. We looked at it as some "paying back" to them for taking Debbie through the course some 20+ years ago. :)

In the UK we have a charity called "Red Cross" who provide medical cover to all types of events including motorcycle events. I give my old helmets to the local branch so that they can practice safe helmet removal on dummies and on each other. Maybe there is a similar organisation in the USA.

That makes way too much sense!

I have 6 of them hanging from my patio they have good dirt in them and plants flowers and such, wife's idea they get a lot of comments from folks.... kinda fun. even hooked up a drip watering system. they have been there for years, I ad one or two every 4 or 5 years....

I was going to suggest this and you beat me to it.

After reading Flier Tuck's comment I contacted my local fire department/EMS service. The chief assured me they could use old helmets for training and those they did not need would be turned over to the local community college that conducts EMT training courses and always has a similar need. Good tip, Flier!

Thanks for doing that. It's a great idea from across the pond put into action here. I'll pass it on to the local dealer - he may want to use that as a promotion.
