I am planning on putting car tires on my 2010 RTS. Can someone give me what size tires I need for the front and rear. Thanks in advance.

You have 14" wheels, and it happens that the " Vredestein Quatrac 5 " tire comes in sizes for your RT. … Go to this web site " TireRack.com ".... scroll down to " sizes " and see what they have in 14" size. Your fenders can handle anything up to a 175/ 60-14..... good luck, IMO the Q-5 is the best around tire for any Spyder …. you can check the reviews by other members if you search the posts ….. For the older bikes with 14 inch front wheels we sell and install the Bridgestone Potenza tires 165/65R14 for the front. Yokohama Advan Fleva for rear. 205/55-R15. We have sold and installed many sets of these for very happy customers. Big step up in quality and performance from the junk Kenda tires.

On your recommendation I’m going to order two Bridgestone Potenza’s from Tire Rack 165/65 r 14 for the front of my 2011 RT to replace the 9 year old Kenda’s. The back is a 225/50 r15; also a 9 year old Kenda. I’m also going to order a Yokohama Advan Flava 205/55 R15 unless you think there will be a problem mounting the 205/55 r15 where there is now a 225/50 r15. Please speak now if I’m making a big mistake. Tire sizes confuse me almost as much as oil weights. I just need some tires and I don’t want to make a $300 mistake. Thanks

I haven't done the math, consulted the charts or stayed at a Holiday Inn recently, but I <think> the 205/55 is going to be a shorter tire than the current 225/50. Being a shorter tire, it will have to turn faster at any given road speed, further aggravating the speedometer error that you likely have.

Thanks Steve. I don’t really care about speedo accuracy... my only concern is, will the tires fit the rims and fit the RT without causing any modifications. I think I’m ok on the fronts, they’ll be the same size. But the rear has me scared to spend the $$ for a different size tire. Does the 205/55 fit on the rim where the current 225/50 is now and will the tire fit the bike and will it cause problems with the belt or sprocket or anything else?
Sorry for stealing the thread Bandera. If all is good, I’m going to buy them and figure out how to get them mounted and balanced. Thx

I'm not Steve, but the answer is the 205/55-15 will NOT have any fitment issues. The Spyder " rim " is classified as a " J " rim, and must have a tire with a " J " bead. If that un-identified tire is an Auto tire .... it has a " J " bead ...... Mike

The Bridgestones are here already. 1 day from Atlanta to CLT. Can’t get into the shop until 8/13. It’s gonna be a long month waiting.

Unless you don't want to remove the rear wheel yourself any tire shop can mount your tire to your wheel. I bring my wheel in to my local tire shop and they mount and balance for me for $25.00. They should also be able to remove the fronts and mount them as well. I have to have my shop use balance beads on the fronts as they don't have the equipment to balance.

What shop in Charlotte you using? You will have to drive, but Honda / CanAm on Winston-Salem will put car tires on. Maybe check with them , might be quicker. I took off my rear wheel and let them just replace tire. Took off fronts, took to Walmart for change and spin balance

Iron horse in Monroe is where I got the appointment. They’re set to look at the brake failure warning, mount, balance, laser alignment. I’ll check with discount tire and see if they’ll mount and balance the fronts. I Also have dynabeads on order for the front and back. It’s gonna be expensive. Not sure I want to take it all the way ro WS and not sure I trust concord or LKN.

The local Discount Tire at Northlake mounted the Bridgestone Potenza’s on the front and put in the Dyna Beads. I don’t think they’ll do the rear because of the hitch... doesn’t it go through the axle? So I’ll have to wait on the rear for the Yoko to be mounted until mid August when it goes to Iron Horse in Monroe for the laser alignment and brake failure check.

Sorry i did not see your question regarding the size of the Yoko vs what you have now. First realize the size numbers are nominal, not dimensional. Next, the Kenda section width runs narrow for its nominal size and Yoko performance tires run wide. All that is to say the Yoko I recommended is a near exact dimensional match to the Kenda once mounted.
