Best deals to be had are still from individuals rather than dealers. But those are hard to come by, and to find one near by who is willing to sell it at a great price, then its pure luck.
Dealer pricing is out of my range and I refuse to pay retail on anything. So I just sit back and surf the net trolling from time to time on deals. Fall is generally the best time to get deals on bikes because no one wants to winterize or store it. But you better have a wad of cash on hand and ready to pull the trigger if something good comes up. Private sellers don't want to hear nothing about financing and waiting for bank approval. If you want a good deal, be ready to Johnny on the spot. I got mine the day after Thanksgiving for $10,750 with Hindle, touring and 1,500 mi. No blue book numbers at the time to reference with but I estimated it to be at or below whole sale price. It's all luck and willingness to wait.
