What Loud Horns are available for Spyders?

check auto parts stores and compare the decibels of each. There are some loud ones similar to the stock one and some duals that are loud. Then if you get a true air horn with compressor and trumpets they are louder....

Contrary to popular opinion on here the OEM horns aren't really that bad. A couple of years ago I compared the sound level from across the street of my Spyder horn to that of a Stebel motorcycle horn I had installed on my ATV. The Stebel was, just as you observed in your case, only marginally louder. Now, my double Wolo air trumpets mounted on the hood will scare the *** out anyone close by. Which matters more, having two or having them outside of the tupperware I can't answer.

What you're contending with is perception of loudness vs decibel level. Two equal horns side by side will increase apparent loudness by maybe 10% over one horn. The 10% number is a guesstimate. I don't feel like researching for the real number, but it's not much different. In comparing one new horn vs one old horn the new one would have to be hellishly louder and bigger to gain the increased apparent loudness you're after.

To clarify, the only accurate way to determine sound levels is a decibel meter at 3 feet. Anything else is subjective.

I have the horn from TricLED, rated at 131db :yikes: Yes, it makes people jump and look! :ohyea:. The Wolo Bad Boy is only 123.5 db

Indian motorcycle horns are very loud. I may put one on mine. From a chieftain.
It is reasonably loud, but only the 'low' tone of a pair. Adding the 'high' tone makes a considerable difference. By the way, the Scout horn, which is also an Indian horn, is very ordinary, at best.

Fiamm horns used to be pretty popular on BMW motorcycles. They have changed a lot over the years offering more choices than when I first owned an R75 40 years ago.

Both of these are rated at 135db

I just installed a two piece Denali Soundbomb on my F3. It's plenty loud and has a distinctive sound like a expensive Italian sports car. I used the two piece to make mounting easier. I mounted the heavy compressor on the factory horn mount and placed the lighter horn itself in the air plenum for the radiator. All the sound is focused forwards. I realize that's not an option on anything except a F3. but the horn is still loud and fairly easy to mount. I do recommend the "plug and play" wiring harness, it makes wiring easier.

I am searching for a very LOUD horn for my F3 and RT Limited. I am wanting to mount a air horn with more than 150 decibels. In other words a big car horn or a train horn. Sounds funny but it would get people's attention.

Anyone know of anything like this?

To get an air horn that loud you may have to pull an air compressor on a trailer behind you! Wolo has several models but the 150 db ones are all 3 and 4 horn sets and require a large compressor like is on a semi.

My Wolo 2 trumpet m/c horn set is supposedly about 120 db. It scares the bejeebers out of folks when I hit the button. Lot more practical than a truck or train horn. The compressor fits under the tupperware on the left side.

I installed a 'Bad Boy' horn for my 2014 RT as a replacement for the OEM (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F5DQWY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1; $31.00). It works fine to catch attention of anyone on the road without causing any ripple of discontent ~~ you really don't need to startle others, simply catch their attention. It's quite loud enough to be noticed in the cab of a passing truck, I can tell.

Takes 10-mins tops to switch out the old and install this new one. Highly recommended.

I'm quite happy with the Marco Tornado - found on Amazon. Louder than my Wolo Bad Boy on Vision - so I think I may buy another one.

I like the Stebel Nautilus. It's super loud, sounds like a semi or the Queen Mary (the ship, not the actual person), and it's been dead reliable... had one on my V-Strom for about 10 years with never a problem.

I have had the WOLO "Bad Boy" on my 2 Spyders. They do get people's attention. If you buy one, be sure to buy the kit that has the relay. Also, I wired mine directly to the battery with a 20 amp inline fuse.

I went to the wrecking yard and got the horns off a 1970 Cadillac and put them on mine , hard to find a place to put them but everyone knows when you honk them....
