• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I see we really have a good mix of folks here and it seems like quite a few of you are new to riding and some are old bikers/enthusiast. I just want to get an idea where you fit in and I wanted to try the poll feature on this site. :D

I voted just got back into it.

I rode dirt bikes, mini bikes, go karts, etc when I was a kid. Got my first street bike in college (basket case yamaha 440). Next was a Suzi GS850XL (loved that bike) Took a brake from riding for a few years when I moved to TX, then bought a Suzi LC1500 and rode it for about 4 years, then got a Honda ST1300 and kept it about 3 years.
Had my foot issues about a year ago and sold both bikes to avoid temptation and warranty rot. Just picked up (7/1/08) my new :spyder:and am looking forward to many miles on it!!!!

I voted as a total "newbie" to biking. I have NEVER owned a motorcycle in my life, and the Spyder will be the FIRST time ever riding one. I've had a 150cc scooter for the past month, but I don't think that counts! :D

I rode various dirt and street bikes starting in 1971. Rode til around 1973
when I bought my first car. Gave up bikes for the back seat opportunities
and never got around to bikes again. I was going to buy an old Harley and
restore it for riding when I retired, then I found the Spyder. So long old
Harley, hello wow factor! May not get to retire for a while but I'll have a
whole lot more fun getting to work!

Spyder is number 23 in the garage right now, although it is Nancy's Toy, and she is new to riding. (I swipe the key every chance I get!) First one for me was when the neighbor gave me his step-through Cushman 50 years back. After that, it was Whizzer, Mustang, Triumphs, Hondas (still have the one I roadraced at 18), a couple of Beezers, Yamaha, Hodaka, Indian, Harleys (mostly fuel bikes), and of course the motorized tricycle. I probably forgot a few. Raced lots of them, in several venues. Still restore and collect them. Guess you gotta call me hard core.

Just got back into riding. 20 years ago I was scared off of two wheels by cars cutting me off and pulling out in front of me.

With a new wife and a child in our future (and a huge aversion to pain, seeing my own blood, hospitals, etc.) I thought it would be best to get rid of the bike. Thanks to the show American Chopper and a Big Dog dealership in town, I had an urge to get one of those fat tire bikes a couple of years ago but the $35K (or more) price tag cooled me down a bit. It wasn't until the Spyder came out that the price, safety factor and yearning to ride again all came together.

You need another category Lamont, what about those of us that have had some street experience but just not a lot, or for those of us that are bikers to the core in spirit but just never had the opportunity to ride before

Last year I spent the year riding my 150cc scooter, so that is really the extent of my experience but I have always wanted a motorcycle ever since I was a little girl. I was going to upgrade to a 450 or 600 cc scooter or my motorcycle when along came the Spyder and bit me. So, I answered the poll as a new rider even though that isn't exactly the case, I guess it is close enough though.

List of bikes that have spent time in my shed ( including wifes, that I probably put more miles on each of than she did)

old Suzuki GS 550(84)
Honda CBR600f3 smokin joe
Harley Davidson Heritage Softail
Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 custom
Harley Davidson Dyna Glide ( full custom)
Harley Davidson CVO screamin Eagle Fatboy
Honda Goldwing GL1800
Honda VFR800
Yamaha 1100 v-star custom

All have been sold

Now in the shed one Yamaha ZUma scooter

2 Spyders on the way.

No real slot for my vote...Took the plunge and dumped the cage and the sportbike...just waiting for the tour pulley mod!

Old time rider

Right now, I am a Spyder rider only. For the past 60+ years I have ridden things from the Whizzer, Servi-cycle, WWII Indian Scout, 47 Indian Chief 80 cu.in., a bunch of Brit bikes. First swing arm was a 1955 Norton ES2 500cc single. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Had a number of Beemers and misc. dirt bikes etc. At 77 years old, I have to leave the thrill of riding the whoops and thrashing through the woods to you younger folks. The theory that" if you don't fall off you aren't going fast enough" has lost its allure.

We have a great website here and I really enjoy hearing about all the things you folks are doing.

Well the :spyder: is my first non automobile form of traansportation unless you cound my bikes and trikes when I was growing up (I mean the pedal type). You know the drill "Mom wouldn'd let me have a motorcycle." Except for a few friends that would let me ride there bikes. Almost no riding experience. Finally able to afford a bike and I chose the best:clap::clap:. the :spyder:is the best. Glad I have finally been able to join all you experienced ryders. There is nothing like it.

Bill:2excited:

Started riding mostly dirt bikes in the mid 70's, then went through a few Hondas, then BMW's before having a couple unpleasant departures from the seat in the late 80's. In one I ended up in the bucket of a front loader; and the other, hanging through the camper shell and over the tailgate of a pick up. I figured the third time would be the charm. Since I was newly divorced... and ended up being the custodial parent, I decided to hang up the boots. Then one day I saw the Spyder truck... and I thought, "Hey, the kid is 24 and makes more money than me now!" So I bought one!:2thumbs:

I goyt my motorcycle license 18 years ago; $25 for 20 hours of training in CT, which included the written and practical tests to get your license. Scored a 100 on the written :-)

My intent was to buy a crotch rocket (Ninja). Test drove the Ninja and scared the heck outta me. Test rode and loved the Honda Shadow. All set to buy one in the spring, then...

I got married... 'nuff said.

So, after 18 years of marriage I now have my first open air ride, and I'm diggin' it, big time!

Been biking continuously since 1969 and am now 65 years young. Spyder has F1 windshield, and Russell Day-Long Saddle. I am still deciding about the luggage. Maybe Corbin, maybe I will be a cheapskate and use existing black GIVI luggage. Anybody have the Corbin luggage yet?

Newbie

I'm new to riding but looking forward to my new Spyder. I have ridden on the back with my husband for many years but never felt safe enough to ride my own. After trying the Spyder I was in love and now I'm so excited. Took a motorcycle safety course last month and now ready to ride. Can hardly wait until tomm. to pick up our new bike. My husband thinks he will be riding it but I've got a surprise for him.
