• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is this???????????????????????????

I am getting different answers some are saying " a switch for the frunk light, and some are saying it is part of the locking device for the front trunk.

So what is it????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Mine is the switch for the crappy light in the frunk..I added a LED light strip to the frunk and turns on and off when I press that switch.

Do you have a light in your frunk?

Press the switch it should turn on and off.

The locking device is the latch mechanism

From 2010 to 2013 the RT had an electric mechanism to unlock the frunk (the base model for all years did not have the feature).
You pushed the button (on most models it was a dual purpose button with the Parking Brake) and that in turn activated a solenoid that unlatched the frunk.
The switch also was connected to the wiring harness that could activate a crappy little light when the frunk was open.
In 2014 and beyond the electric frunk opener was discontinued as a standard item (you could & can buy it from BRP) so they left the switch in because they still had the crappy little light as an option on some and standard on other models.

I'm sure that any mistakes made in my explanation will immediately be rectified.

Both!!!

It is a switch to turn the frunk light on and off. The same switch is used to complete the circuit to ground for the electric frunk lid opener when the lid is closed and the light is off. The opener has to be added as an extra part and is not on your RTS, nor any 2014 and later RT as they come from the factory but the wiring is still there. The opener was part of the 2013 and earlier RTS and RT Ltd.

OK is there still some confusion? :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:Seems pretty simple by the explanations given:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Remember the locking mechanism is only for

From 2010 to 2013 the RT had an electric mechanism to unlock the frunk (the base model for all years did not have the feature).
You pushed the button (on most models it was a dual purpose button with the Parking Brake) and that in turn activated a solenoid that unlatched the frunk

This feature is not on your bike..

You only have the light that is operated by that switch..

I am sure you understand now..
