• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is this???????????????????????????

I have a 2014RTS-SE6 and I was wandering what this is: Gerenral Altimax RT 43 ( 175) 008.jpg ( this piece is attached to the front trunk that locks your trunk lid).

Here is a side view of: Gerenral Altimax RT 43 ( 175) 004.jpg this is in front of the trunk on a 2014 RTS-SE6.

Here is an other picture of : Gerenral Altimax RT 43 ( 175) 005.jpg + Gerenral Altimax RT 43 ( 175) 003.jpg the "narrow metal piece" comes in contact with: Gerenral Altimax RT 43 ( 175) 006.jpg

this is inside of the "trunk lid "facing towards the headlights.

The "2014RT Basic" does not have it the above part in the same area as a 2014RTS-SE6.

 I'll be darned...
I didn't think that they kept an eye on the Frunklid...
I'll have to give this a test tomorrow. :D

"How come the 2014RT - Basic's don't have the Switch? Deanna "
They didn't pay for one: we did!

That is the microswitch that turns on the LED light in the front left corner of your trunk. It was also used as part of the electric trunk opener on the 2010 thru 2013 model RT's. It does not tell nanny the front trunk is open.

As a side note you want the metal wings around the switch to protect the metal strip with the roller on it. It can be easily bent which wouldn't allow the trunk to be opened with the switch. BRP did away with the switch in 2014.

 Awww...
But if you added a light up on the dash, and ran some wiring from the switch up to it... :D

The switch is used to turn an optional LED trunk light.
Why they bother to turn the low power key switched light on and off with a microswitch I haven't a clue.

The rear top case & side case switches are buried in the latch mechanism.

These rear swiches are connected via something called a resistance ladder so one of the three cases can be identified as to which one is open by using just two wires.

maybe, because "basic" owners didn't fork over the extra cash ? oh , I know someone already told you, but in
technical terms, that is called a microswitch.
Yeh, I know that someone has already told me. I wonder if the 2014RTS-SE6 LTD spyder models got the micro switch's?

Looks like your missing a couple bolts for something.

It's a double pole switch. With the electric opener that the S & Ltd models came with in 2010 to 2013 it completed the circuit to ground for the opener when the trunk lid was closed. When the trunk lid is open it closes the circuit to ground for the trunk light. One switch performed two functions!

The trunk light and opener were not part of the base RT up to 2013. The trunk light may not be included in the base RT for '14 on either, I don't know.

After trying to figure out how to accomplish the same thing with a more rugged switch with my 2013, to which I added the opener and trunk light, I concluded the microswitch as installed is about the most practical solution.

Also, it has no connection to nanny.

Here is a updated picture: Micro Swtich @ my Trunk release 001.jpg with the 2 bolts in place.

The 3rd bolt hole is under the black plastic thing ( a symbol shows a computer, a BRP/ or a dealership tech can plug a computer in, temp gauge symbol), that is on the left side of your spyder facing the headlights.

Not on Deanna's 2014 it isn't.
I agree it was for the purpose you describe in prior models.
