• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Good morning All,

Initially when I purchased my used 2009 GS, I noticed a wire under the seat with a plug, ( which looks like an RCA type jack ).

Anyone have an idea what this wire is for.

Thanks Guys

It's the passenger seat weight sensor. It tells when you're riding two-up to let the computer know how to adjust the Spyder's stability system.

it's part of the naughty passenger ejection system:yikes: push button & goodbye!!!!

Just Kidding, its a switch to tell the ABS system you have a passenger & adjusts braking

Let's see..!!

many folks that have added heated gear to their wardrobe plug into the battery of the roadster. I have two such wires under the seat for the heated liners and gloves. If you can follow the wires to the battery that could be it. The other would be a battery tender also if connected to the battery...:dontknow:

RCA Plug

RCA plugs are generally related to RF or audio lines. You need to supply more data.

You said it was a used machine so the previous owner could have installed a radio of some type or it could have been some sort of communications device. Interesting challenge !

PICTURE OF WIRE

Good morning Folks,

These are the pictures of the wire located under my seat.

Does this wire carry juice or not, if it does I would use it to power my GPS.

Please let me your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

Dom

Coax connector for heated gear. It is hot if there is a fuse in the fuse holder (on pigtail near battery connection).

I added those connectors to both my RT & my wife's GS & our Goldwing. They are for our Gerbing heated clothing, but we also use them for our battery tenders and other things. The three pictures below gives you an idea of how they're used, especially the last one.

Thanks Everyone,

I really appreciate your feedback and replies.

From what I gather, the only thing I really need to do, providing there is a fuse allocated to this connection, I can make my one cigarette lighter connection, by using a female 12V connector at one end and a cigarette lighter at the other end.

You'll want to confirm the polarity and also run the wire to make sure you're happy with the connection and inline fuse setup.

COAX

I just checked at Powerlet, thats a great place, for all kind of connectors, thank you so much for the heads up.

I think the Coax to 2 cigarette lighter will be my choice, then again the Coax to Nuvi GPS is good, WOW so much choice and so little money, as usual LOL.

Be careful that you have enough room under the seat for the cigarette outlets. It is pretty tight in there in some places. You might also need a coax extension cable to be ale to scoot the outlets to a wider space or outside the seat.
