Here's why. Ignition Module is not a well known term. Last month you were dealing with a bad key issue and thought you were in Limp Mode. Those two things don't go hand-in-hand. You never provided any update on that. If you're still dealing with that, then what you are looking for is the DESS Module. There's a little conflicting information, but the updated part number could now work on 2008 - 2013 models.... I think.

A bit more information about what's going on and why you need to do something is always helpful. But, getting instructions for something like that would be a little tough to do in an Internet forum. So, you can replace a DESS Module without replacing your whole ignition switch, but you will need to go through key programming again, and you'll want to have the pages in hand when you do that. But, you can only do that with a brand new one, not a used one. You might consider just letting the dealer that did your brakes take a whack at this. I'd hate to see you lose 170 bucks.

Has it been verified that the OP actually had/has a DESS failure. .... in '08 to '13 Spyders, I don't recall the DESS being a common failure. ..... I checked my '14 RT manual and could not find a picture of exactly what the screen will show when a DESS failure is present. ..... I had it occur a few times on my '14 RT, but don't remember exactly what it looked like. ..... Can anyone provide what this screen looks like???? ..... Mike :thumbup:

Has it been verified that the OP actually had / has a DESS failure. .... in 08 to 13 Spyders I don't recall the DESS being a common failure ..... I checked my 14 RT manual and could not find a picture of exactly what the screen will show when a DESS failure is present ..... I had it occur a rfew times on my 14 RT, but don't remember exactly what it looked like ..... can anyone provide what this screen looks ???? ..... Mike :thumbup:

No, it hasn’t been verified he has a bad DESS module, and that’s my concern, too. Looking at his previous posts in his other thread, all he was getting was Bad Key. That seems to be all you get if the module is bad, but it can come from other issues as well. My objective was to initially give him the information he was looking for. After that, to try to steer him towards additional help. His experience level is not known. So, rather than him going back and forth on here for days on end, and then have it go wrong, I’d rather see him either get a manual and get himself trained up, or lay this in the dealer’s lap and have them be accountable.
