• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is BUDS?

I keep hearing about BUDS. They seem to be used for diagnostics. Is this something I can buy and use? Can I reset my machine with them? I'm on warranty for 3 years so I'm just kind of curious.

BUDS is a piece of computer software (Windows).

Under a panel in the front after you open the frunk is a connector use to connect the computer (usually a laptop) to the Spyder.

Officially, you cannot buy it, only the dealers have access to it.

However, it seems some people have managed to get a copy.

You can....

But it is rather expensive and I believe there was a knock-off version at one time. It is the diagnostic program for the BRP products. B=BRP U= Utility and D= diagostic S= softwear. You can find it online from $1000.00 give or take....

BUDS: Any Budweiser product consumed in pairs. :roflblack::roflblack:

Unless--you meant the diagnostic thingy. Used by dealers and some mechanics that can afford the license and the $1K plus cost. The others have you covered on the information above.

This is absolutely not true. ANYONE willing to pay the price of admission can legally purchase both the BUDS interface device and the software. The dealers have to purchase it as well. Its not actually written by BRP but by an outside developer.

Its NOT cheap though.

Yeah: you can buy it...

...But why not let the dealer pay for it, and just pay him for the occasional uses that you might need?

I probably will Bob. I just noticed that some people indicated that if you do your own oil changes and stuff that your machine would not be reset. I didn't know if that would be a problem or not.

There's no reason to reset anything with B.U.D.S. after an oil and filter change that I know of. Just keep receipts for your parts and oil purchases and do a short MFR showing date and both the incremental and total mileage on the Spyder when you change it.

Mostly because I have been inflicted with the disease of trying to work on spyders in my own shop....crazy as it sounds. Having BUDS is a basic requirement to have any success in this endeavor.

There is a place in BUDS to record last service data but from what we have seen, very few dealers bother to use it. Many do not even record initial delivery information.

Thanks, good to know. I'm kind of anal about my Spyder stuff but not anal enough to pop for B.U.D.S. to record my maintenance.
