• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is a DPS unit?

I personally have never seen mine, so I don't know what it looks like nor do I know if its electrical versus mechanical. What is this mysterious device? Does it have any moving parts, magnets, squirrels in a cage? I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of readers who might have the same question but are afraid to ask.

Remove the Frunk, and you will see a kinda square unit, placed roughly in the center of the Bike, in fornt of the engine. that is your DPS.

It contains 2 electrical Squirrels. One to help turn right, the other to help turn left. Due to the current union rules you must have two. A third Squirrel may be needed depending on the individual labors laws of each state. The third squirrel does nothing more than interpet the input of the rider, He then communicates the input to the other squirrels and tells them which way to go. I believe it has been misscommunication between these squirrels that has caused all the DPS issues.

Union rules? In Canada? BRP is private...no union that I'm aware of...and squirrels are rodents...yuck!

Dynamic Power Steering. It is an electrically driven, variable assist, power steering unit. Basically, when the sensors, speed, and rider input call for power assist, an electric motor kicks in to help. The unit is guided mainly by a Steering Angle Sensor and a Steering Torque Sensor, under microprocessor control and programming.

Oh good grief Scotty, thats too many squirrels in the pot. Oh sorry Lamont. I forgot that's a delicacy in yall neck of the woods. Good analogy Tony.

Can the SAS or the STS be giving wrong info to the DPS which for some of us would be SAD or SOL?

And for those ryders who have had their DPS swapped out did they exchange the left and right squirrels (SAS & STS) as well ?

I think the electric motor 'licks' may be a problem. That's just my opinion; I may be wrong.
