There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What I traded in - for the spyder.

Nice ride....

That is a lot of bike...trike...:yikes: but you seem to have seen what the spyders have to offer. Congratulations but where is a picture of the spyder..??:gaah:

What You Traded In?

I'm new to the bike world. What kind of trike is it? I saw one today in Port Townsend, Wa and wondered what it was.

what i trade for

got to my Spyder by trading my 8 yr old Goldwing 1800 / Motor Trike for a Kawasaki Voyager w/CSC Trike kit that I had only 8 months -wife hated it. Costly mistakes so I hope my Spyder doesn't turn into one. Safe Riding!20150707_093551.jpg20151105_144928.jpg20160501_154208 (2).jpg

Vehicles in California

I would not ever feel ok about buying a
vehicle out of state because....
California is governed by a bunch of
overzealous people who have made it
almost impossible to register a car, truck,
motorcycle, spyder or most anything else
that is not California smog legal. that is why
they all cost more here because we have to
pay for much more smog stuff on them than
any place else on the planet. His GoldWing trike is
in California and would be legal to register.

Dave, if you are still looking, Honda Can Am of Winston - Salem has a 2010 nav Yellow, Motor Trike kit in stock. Good Luck....

Dave question. As long time Wing rider, what does California do to screw up the Wing? They come with cat on them out of the box. Torque loops would be the only major problem. Good luck.

I have owned 5 Gold Wings all were fantastic but all were from here.

They all have to be certified CARB legal and the ID plate has to say California approved or 50 state approved
if it is not there you can not register it here, lots of people go to Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Arizona and buy a new
bike and bring it here and then find out it can not be registered.
I tried to buy a car in Utah "killer deal" only to find I could not drive it here because the DMV said not California legal

Love the Spyder - Never looking back.
:congrats: and :welcome:

I've got two questions... What was the deciding factor that caused you to "trade-up" to a Spyder RTS? (Not that I disagree at all with your choice - just curious.)

...and, How much money did they give you for that beautiful trike in addition to giving you the Spyder? ;)

I have a diesel motorhome that is legal in all 49 continental United States - except California. So now that I'm retired, I'm anxious to get out and see the country - except California. :sour:

Have loved the GW all my life. Never bought one because of the size and heft of beast in its two wheel form. When I got my first "big one" it was a Yamaha Venture Touring (1984). Back then we were talking 4 cylinder and 1200 cc's. I believe the GW was similarly equipped. The Venture fit me a bit better so I went that direction.

RE: Trikes. Did not buy a big dollars vehicle until 2010 when I got my first RTS. $28K and change. The thought of a GW plus trike conversion kit, and less stability (one in front) caused me to balk at that. The dealer here (very independent and snobby) said a trike kit would void the warranty, and they don't work on trikes. And...they wanted full MSRP plus set up for a one year left over basic wing. I walked...FAST.:yes:

Honda Trike - For Spyder rt

Actually was able to sell it outright, instead of trading it in. Add 6k :D and got the Spyder. Smoother, Faster, Better milage, Better Handeling, (Way better Handeling)
No Clutch handle (Arthritus in my fingers ) Way more stable, More fun, & not the last, or least -wife really likes it.
Cons - No intercom. No CB. Pro's - Could put gas (regular) in without everyone getting off, and raising the seat. (Yes, i've seen the posts, and I will take care of that.)

Those are some good reasons to buy a Spyder RT - especially the one about your wife really liking it. ;) And it sounds like you made out fairly well, financially.

As far as an intercom goes, talk to Motorcycle Dave, who has posted in this thread, about what Sena has to offer. They've recently put out some impressive units with their new "S" series headsets. Dave also sells a unit that will enable you to link your Spyder entertainment system to the headsets.

I can cure the intercom problem

I still wish I had known sbout that trike
before you sold it.
