• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH YOUR 2013 RT

it can get warm … but I wouldn't call it hot. depends a lot on what kind of foot ware you run.

i have no complaints

problems

I'm going shopping tomorrow.

Found a new 2013 RT base model, at a decent price.

But that damn heating problem is still out there.

My biggest problem has been getting used to the wind buffeting. Winston Salem, NC Can Am had a red and a blue 2013 RTS SM 5 last week still for sale. I bought mine from them in January for 19750. I paid my taxes and registration in SC. I was getting mine serviced and while I was there they sold 2 others(2013 RTS SM 5) for the same. I asked the guys who bought them. Might be cheaper and have it shipped to Canada. Just a thought.

I have a 2013 RTLtd that had:

1. Bad ball joints from the factory caused poor handling. Replaced under warranty. Excellent handling!
2. Bad heim joint on sway bar. Replaced under warranty. No problems.
3. Heat issue under tupperware. Warranty issue. I had no melted parts. Components were wrapped in heat reflective material and new heat shield for master cylinder. Only heat I experience is a bit of right foot heat that is common to all pre2014 RTs.

These are the issues I have had. On a new 2013 RT these issues SHOULD have already been addressed. Just be sure they are!! Otherwise, I love riding her. She starts good, doesn't stink up the garage with fuel vapor or throw codes. She's been good to me. Hope to get another year or two out of her while others are beta testing the 1330 engine and new tranny. Once folks realize NOT ALL 2013s are taboo, maybe I can get a reasonable trade. If you get a good deal, give it a try. I think you will enjoy! Best o' luck!

There are different types of heating "problems" with the 2013 RT (and ST).
The first would be a hot right foot. This is caused by the hot air discharge from the radiator vent. How bad it is depends on your footwear, the climate, your speed, your foot position, and your sensitivity. It bothers some owners a lot, and others very little.
The second would be overheating of the coolant. This is not a common problem, nor would it be peculiar to the 2013 RT. A properly functioning system will not overheat, although the water temperature may be higher than some owners would like to see it. Gauges scare some people, but the Spyder gauge normally runs in the middle, more or less.
The third would be under body heat that can damage components like the brake master cylinder and can cause the gas to boil excessively. BRP has addressed this with shields to protect key components, but some Spyders run hotter than others and still can damage things. BRP has also issued a firmware update that seems to help. Each Spyder is different in this department, so it is a bit of a crap shoot.
The latter problem can also make the seat, gas cap, and body panels hot, making the owner uncomfortable, or even causing burns. This also varies Spyder to Spyder, and the degree can depend on the rider's size and position, what the rider is wearing, and the climate. Best to take a demo ride to see how it may affect you. Better yet, make the sale contingent on an extended test ride on the exact Spyder you wish to purchase. It may affect you and that Spyder or it may not.

Thanks

2500 miles on my 2013 RT-Limited, bought last July. No excessive heat issues. Had all relevant Recall and Service Bulletin work done. Had lower radiator hose replaced and waiting for a frunk actuator to come in. All under warranty. So far, it's been a great ryde...

My 2013 RTS had the heat issue but so far I think the issue has been fixed? The latest warranty campaign 2013-9 seems to have helped a lot with that issue. I know the bike sure runs a lot better after that repair!

That would be my advice as well to make sure you've got one that is not affected.

The only issue with my 2013 RT was that I snapped the heim joint (#4) which was already a known problem. I actually fixed it myself with BajaRon's chromoly links. I've got 4500 miles on it and it has been flawless other than that. I have NO heat issues and NO melted parts. My wife is often my passenger and she has never complained about any heat coming up from the tupperware. She was surprised to hear about the heat issue when I told her about it.
