• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What does this VIN/Description mean?

gkamer

Sadly passed away, December '23.
A friend is looking at buying an F-3. The seller is telling her it is a Sports model, but the paper work she is looking at says it's a Basic model. This is the description she got when she ran the VIN through BRP's web site:

F3 1330 Ace, SE6, SB 20

Does the "SB" indicate a Sport Basic or are there differences between a Basic model and Sports model? I'm not sure what the "1330 ACE" is telling me either. I'm not up to speed on the F3 models.

So Greg. Here's what it appears to be to me:

F3 = Self explanatory.
1330 = Engine displacement in CC's. Same as yours.
ACE = Acronym for Advanced Combustion Efficiency. Same as yours.
SE6 = The transmission type. Same as yours.
SB = Color - Steel Black. You'll also see designations of PW for Pearl White, etc. etc. etc.
20 = Model Year 2020.

See if that fits. It's not the answer to your question about Sports or Basic model, but I think it correctly explains the designation.

I have a 2019 base. The ‘S’ suffix model has cruise control as standard, and better front shocks (Fox), I believe. If she sees these items on the bike, good chance it is the ‘S’ model. My base model does not have cruise (although it can be added), and no upgraded shocks on my ride.

I'm not sure if this will answer her question but it's good to know information in any case. Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.....:thumbup:

There are VIN check websites that give VIN info for no charge. You may have to look at several of them to get the info you want. Most of them charge but give out some info free as a sales teaser.

As far as I'm aware. the 'F3' is the base model of the F3 series, followed by the F3S, F3T, and last of all the F3Limited. Nothing wrong with the base model, just misses out on a few doodads that come standard with other models.
