I see that a few of our members have their names grayed out. I was wondering what that meant. I have seen the other colors and know them but had just noticed the gray

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
What does a gray username mean?

they have closed their account or a moderator has banned them and closed the account

You are all correct.
One correction. No one moderator can just ban someone from the site. There is a directive we follow as well as discussing the person to be banned between all of us. They have usually had much interaction behind the scenes with the moderators and know they are already on shaky ground before an actual ban happens.
One moderator pushes the button, but all are aware well in advance. The ban process is NOT taken lightly by the staff.
