• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What do you think ??

I have a 2012 RT-S SE5. It has 600 miles on it.

The problem I'm finding with it is the following:

While in fifth gear and RPM is between 5,000 to 6,000 I get a vibration feeling and the engine also sounds differant. It's more like a pulsation. It will last a short time and come back if it's in between the above RPM's. Once you are above the 6,000 RPM it does not happen again.

I have had it at the BRP dealer to be checked out. They have advised me this is very common for this type of bike and nothing can be done about it.
What are your thoughts on this issue?? I don't feel good about it being a new bike.

Thanks for any input.

I have the same issue with vibration, but not sure about the sound part due to poor hearing. Learned to live with it. I am at 3500 miles.

Normal- its belt slap or belt harmonics. Some have done tensioners on the belt to get rid of it. Some just know its normal and live with it.

You'll notice it just a bit above 70mph...
Watch your belt tension; a loose belt makes it worse! :yikes:
If you notice that it "changes"; have your dealer check and adjust the tension!

Can you say SmoothSpyder!

I posted the results of my first test on Friday after installing a belt damper from SmoothSpyer. It makes a great difference and makes it livable and not just live with it! Mine sounded and felt like the whole bottom was eventually going to be lying on the highway. To me it was worth the investment and hopefully improves belt life. I can't imagine the belt likes vibrate like that for long. BRP should have thought of it!

Different slant

belt harmonics can be attributed to part of the vibration.

belt tension can be a partial portion of the problem.

the engine RPMs coming up on the power curve can be a part of the vibration and sound.

my 2011 RTL SE-5 does that too

Had the exact same thing. Posted a question here and about the same time had to take the :spyder2: in for it's 600 mile service. The techs did the service and told me they found nothing out of order. That's just the nature of these machines, so now when I feel it, I just give it a little gas and drive out of it. Everyone here told me that's how these beasts act so I don't worry about anymore. Just ride and enjoy. :).
