• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

As stated in post #22 ,without adding a lot of weight to the rear end, the rear tire will spin in snow (or any slick surface) regardless of the tread pattern.
Studded tire will help with the snow a little but good luck!

I see the Canyon as an alternative 'look' rather than an 'adventure' machine.
 
Interesting but not for me. I played with my 22F3S last fall when we got about an inch of snow and when I tried to do anything that broke the rear tire loose in standard mode it immediately applied the brakes and almost slid me sideways into the ditch. I didn't try sport mode it might have worked better.

As far as snow traction with the large rear tire and no amount of weight on the back it will be very poor on acceleration or deceleration (on the level) on snow or ice never mind hills or corners. Maybe all three winter tires studded will be an option. There will be some that will ride fresh snow on the level okay. Snow can get into tiny cracks so once it gets into the belt guard it will freeze and form ice inside the belt guard.

On an unpaved gravel secondary road it ahould be fine. On a bush road (not a trail) without gravel in the dry weather may work okay but not as well as an off road bike because of the width and traction.

The Canyon has a new look and will work for some but I am not sure it will be a large percentage of sales. Once it snows its time to drag out the Renegade XRS 900 R and for offroad its the Defender XT Cab HD10. JMO
 
It's interesting. We have run across a fair share of gravel roads on our trips. Some of which we wouldn't have made on the S2S, but we hit them with the Victory at the time. The Canyon may or may not have made them either, hard to tell. Looks like fun, for a 2nd Spyder. I wouldn't give up the comfort of the RT platform for touring, but ripping around and having fun........ I like the looks better than the Ryker. If I had the cash, might be in the stable (I don't LOL)
 
Just reading review on the all new 2025 Canyon Spyder. It is an off-road beefy version of a Spyder. Non paved adventure backroads are now in trip planning.

I have only watched the BRP announcement video, and actually like the styling. Captures the dual sport look, albeit a heavier bulkier, dual sport, or even a trike out of a futuristic video game. You know, something you'd ride across the post-apocalyptic, zombie filled, landscape. Also has a bit of a military look. Oooooo... is there a quick mount for a 50 cal available for the back? Now, that would be an adventure trike! Might make the neighbors a little nervous though. :shocked:

I'll be interested in seeing how these things are actually used. While being touted as an adventure vehicle, being a heavy bike, pushed by a single back wheel, may limit just how "adventurous" one could get on it. I doubt they can go where most dual sports can, but still, having the ability to go on unpaved roads certainly opens the market to different customers. It seems to lean more into the utility style of trike. Besides, in the automobile world, how many trucks, and sport utility vehicles are advertised for their off-road capability, yet most are used a daily-drivers, commute vehicles, and grocery getters? How many Land Rovers do you think are splashing through the muddy wilderness, and rock crawling? One could own an adventure Spyder, and never take it off pavement. Time will tell.

I kind of think they should have done this off road package based on the Ryker. It has shaft drive for ruggedness, is narrower for path driving, and is lighter weight. Maybe that will be in 2026.
 
This would have been better with an all wheel drive configuration.

This will probably handle some minor adv roads but don't think of this as an adv or joining adv's on a ride as I imagine the width of 3 wheels will limit the areas you can go to.
 
I do like the higher ground clearance, but I don't need that level of tech out in the boonies. My Rally will get me anywhere the Canyon will get to, and it'll do it for less than half the price!

It is obviously no rock crawler. The 10 inches is suspension travel not ground clearance. Still 6 inches is a pretty good. My Montesa dirt bike doesn't have any more than that and it is purpose built for off road. I think this is more for what we used to call "Fire Roading" than any hard core off roading. A really rutted road is going to get you into trouble really quick. Adventure riding doesn't have to be conquering the Darian Gap, it can be running down that dirt road you always wanted to see where it went, or a forest service road, Moqui Dugway, or some dirt roads in Arches. I hope it goes well for them.

With the additional ground clearance, I am guessing that it will limit the ability to handle high speed curves like riding the Dragon and other such roads. I was also looking for specs like the width and length, but I didn't see anything. I am guessing that I probably just overlooked it.

I reckon that's why they've got the (slightly :p ) 'up-market' adaptive shocks - to help maintain the 'stock' Spyder handling characteristics even with the extra ground clearance. :thumbup:

I am very surprised that they didn't beef up the Ryker for this model. It already has a shaft drive which is much preferred over belt in an off-road situation. They could have beefed up the motor for more Torque & HP if needed. Though the 900 seems worthy enough.

Obviously, they are going after the adventure bike crowd. Traction has always been the Achilles heel of the Spyder format. We'll see.

What's interesting is Can-Am's spec sheet for the 2024 Ryker Rally LxWxH. The length of 2532 mm is not 92.6 inches. :dontknow:
 
I wonder if it has the 89t rear pulley of the F3S, or the 79t of all other models? It does have an extra 125# load capacity.

Interesting. I checked again to make sure I didn't make a mistake in posting the information, and the 2024 Ryker Rally information does say:

L x W x H 92.6 X 59.9 X 42.9 in. (2,532 x 1,522 x 1,090 mm)

I also checked the specs on the website for the 2024 Ryker and Ryker Sport and the dimensions have the same error.

And the spec sheets for the 2025 Ryker models also have the same error.

The Ryker measurement has been typed incorrectly... 92.6 inches is 2.352m, not 2.532!
