There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. What do you do with your helmet???

I'd like to start off by saying i'm not an elitist or snob by any means. I financed the price of a helmet at the time I bought my 2013 ST Ltd. so I (over)paid $660 at the dealership for my Shoei GT Air Wanderer, and for this reason I am reluctant to leave it on my bike when stopped...even at the local Cyclegear where there are several helmets left on their bikes while the owners shop inside. If the helmet were ever taken, i'd have to replace it with a BILT $99 special, since I don't see me forking out another $600 plus for a replacement lid. Seems like the helmet locks/cables would only show down a thief wanting the helmet...not prevent them.

Now to the question...What do you Spyder owners do with your helmets when you park your Spyder?
I know the obvious answer of "Put it in the Frunk", but I usually have my backpack in there when on the road. Both items will not fit.

Interestingly enough...my 2013 Owners Manual states there is enough room in the Frunk for 2 helmets. I can barely fit my 1 helmet in the Frunk much less a 2nd one. I cannot possibly figure out how BRP expects 2 helmets to fit in the Frunk :hun:

From Page 86 of the 2013 ST Owner's Manual:
Front Storage Compartment - The front storage compartment has room to store light objects, such as two helmets.

You guys with the St's have a problem that us Rt riders don't have.

I guess if I were in your sneakers I would invest in a quality cable lock and secure it that way. Either that or cut your back pack out of the loop. A $600 skid lid is definitely something you don't want to lose.

I have a Scorpion EXO 900, that I run in open face config in the summer. Wife has a Bilt open face. We can fit both in the frunk only if I don't have the chin bar on my Scorpion. If I'm running the full face configuration, I put mine in the Frunk, and she puts hers in the side saddlebag. (We have an RT... more room for junk).
If we're traveling, or otherwise have the compartments filled, then I use some cables and the hooks under the seat.

Put It In The Frunk!!!!

That almost sounds dirty...if you look at it the wrong way:). The wife and I have the ST-1 Hybrids, and they both fit in the RT Frunk with no problem at all...even with the removable jaw pieces attached. If you can do without your backpack, this is your best bet. I tried using the little tabs under the seat, but found it almost impossible with the short straps on the helmets. One thing your can also try...a rubber-covered bicycle lock. Loop it through the rear hand grips and then through your full-faced helmet, or attach it through the straps of the helmet. This leaves your helmets exposed...but truth be told, I have never had anyone bother either one of the helmets if we left them on the seat. I'm either too trusting, or just asking for trouble.

I just leave mine on the seat but I did not pay $600.00 for mine.

A friend of mine, while on jury duty, had his helmet stolen from his Harley that was parked in the courthouse parking lot.

Well; you can always carry it with you...
Or I believe that we just had a post working where somebody bought a license plate frame that had two helmet locks on it.
Or... "handgun lock-it" to the passenger grab rails.

We put ours in the Frunk. But if that's full, we will carry them with us in helmet bags that we purchased.

I leave mine (Shark)on the seat a lot, but try not to lately. I have a RT so not much of a problem.
A couple idea in addition to those on here. Vendors like RIVCo have little T bars that go thru the D ring on the helmet, then on the underseat hooks. Somebody (Aerostich ??) has a armored bag (wire mesh inside) a bag that you can lock to the passenger rail.
Good luck, ride safe

On my RT-S (2013) there are two helmet hangers under the seat. The problem is, my straps are not quite long enough to make it handy. A lot of times I just snap the straps together and hang them under the seat. If I really want to pretend they are safe, I slip the D ring over the hanger, but the helmet is right at the edge of the seat then so it takes a little fussing with it. With the seat closed, you'd have to cut the strap or pull hard enough to break the hanger.

Not sure when these were brought in or what models have or don't have them.

On my motorcycle, I use the underseat lock or a cable lock which I can run through the jacket and helmet loop.

When I'm going to be away for awhile I use an inexpensive combo bike lock through the chin guard and around the passenger handles. Leave the helmet sitting on the seat.
or
I leave the helmet on the seat and use the half cover and you can't see it....
or
Carry it.

I use the frunk or hang it on my husbands goldwing if he is with me and my frunk is full. I never leave it sitting on the seat since it cost a lot of money and I would rather be safe than sorry. :dg2:

Handcuffs

Get a set of handcuffs, secure one on the passenger hand holds the other through the "D" ring on ur helmet......WaLa.....problem solved

First of all you know that Handcuff keys are universal, right?. Second of all if you hang it by the strap some smart aleck is going to cut the strap for you. then what good is it. I would get a Cable that goes through the chin bar and through the hand grips if I really wnated to be safe and it wouldn't go in the frunk and I didnt' want to or couldn't carry it.

:duh: Who do you think hangs around courthouses,
And i'm not just talking about the criminals either..:roflblack:

On Nancy's GS, if the trunk is full, we use a small retractable cable lock to fasten it to the passenger grab rail, or we use a Pacsafe Lidsafe armored bag to lock it to the grab rail. I do the same thing on my BMW most of the time.

If you wear one just like this... easy-rider-42.jpg... I don't think that you'd need to worry about anybody stealing it from you.
but you might get some sympathy cards! :roflblack:
