There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. what do you carry for concealed to carry?

Just got a new toy over the weekend ... a Taurus Judge .45LC /.410ga which can fire up to 5 rds. of 00 buck shots. Now that would be a cool anti car jack personal protection piece .... and a snake stopper of course.:2thumbs:

What barrel length did you get? I saw a write up about the Public Defender model, 2 inch barrel, 1100fps muzzle velocity with slugs, decent grouping at reasonable ranges. Google Taurus melon head to get an idea what it's capable of.

S & W .367 Mangnum. 2" barrel, double action. Texas CHL. Hollow points on the road. Thinking on getting the hammer filed off.

Hubby and I had a un-nerving night in Arm-pit Arizona, population 150. People started coming out of the hills late at night. We could hear them partying and laughing outside our room. (Think of all those desert slasher movies) We were in a little used Hotel with bathroom locks for the front door. Shoved a chair under the doorknob and hoped for the best. Not a fun way to spend the night...

Guns are the last line of defence. Not the first. First line of defence is your brain. Use it! Guns are like rain suits. Bring them but don't expect to use them.

I carry because of solo rydes. There have been times when I have felt uncomfortable but, most times it was the wrong first impression. Have to figure out what is really going on...

The bean shooter is on the Spydee, not me. Figured if there was an acident, don't want my rescuers hurt trying to help me.

Going through the CHL class teaches so much! Learned how to keep your nose clean and if you don't flash, it will be there when and if you need it.

On trips I carry either a Kel-Tec P3AT or a S&W 38. I worry about breaking down in a remote area and needing to defend against stray dogs, etc; as much as against people. As many have said, with proper training, the LAST resort is to pull a weapon; but I want to have that option available if needed.

Is that the cannon from the A-10? That gun is so awesome, they built a plane to carry it! :2thumbs:

Yes, the article that was sent to me said that they built the plane around the gun. One of the recruiters at my daughters recruiting station has one of the bullets (or shells) and it is huge. Of course it has been disarmed.

You should see the thing in action! What makes the Warthog so impressive is it is "down on the deck" versus up at altitude. It may not be the prettiest thing at the dance but more people ask it for a dance than any other partner! nojoke

Canadians?

Can Canadians even own handguns--- let alone carry them? :dontknow:

Carry them,No.We can buy them as long as you are a member of a "Gun Club".
There is a lengthy proceedure in getting the permits and carrying them is out unless it is to and from your range in a case (locked) as specified by the RCMP.
The Laws are really strict with hand guns.
Myself,I do not own one.I've never felt the need;but to each his own.

carrying guns

As someone who spends lots of time doing violent prevention--especially rape prevention--I understand why people carry guns and I'm not opposed to it. I just hope folks also have a plan "B." Guns don't always work, take time to load, and even trained police officers often miss live targets in life and death situations. The stats are even lower when it is dark outside. Bad guys who have nothing to lose/are high can keep attacking even after being shot. I once snapped an assailants arm--heard it break--and he didn't even pause. Plan B for me is intensive self-defense training (very different from martial arts), which can be tailored to specific populations like persons with disabilities, etc. Your body can be a great weapon without years of training. I also agree with parents who tell their children to be cautious of strangers, and would add that in the case of sexual assaults it is a known assailant 85% of the time. So we also need to teach our daughters to be assertive and fight back, and teach our sons to respect females and stand up to other guys who are violent toward women.

That's why I carry the Taraus Judge Public Defender / slim ball eliminator loaded with three .410ga 00 buck shots and two .45LC You can't miss wit-dat-ting even with your eyes closed. Easily conceled and cross draw in a flash.

I have asked the ATF what I need to do to get permission to carry a sawed-off shotgun in my saddle bag or strapped to my back. Waiting to hear back

If they are from a gunsmith, they can be registered as pistols, the Taurus Judge is a .410 revolver, much easier to carry, more shots, probably cheaper. My 2 sawed offs cost me over 350 apiece, 40 years ago.

Thanks but I can get a Remington 12 gauge for $300 as opposed to $485 for a .410 (even though it is also a .45) and I can make it into an SBR. However, if I want a .410, I'd go with the Snake Charmer II and trim the stock and barrel (if I could find one...there's one for auction with current bid at $76))

According to the ATF in order for it to be considered a pistol the bbl must be rifled, not a smooth bore. I have a old 16ga single bbl, that the stock was severly damaged on. so I cut it down. The ATF specs is 18in or longer bbl, and overall must be 28in or more. Mine has a 18.5in bbl and is 28.75 oveall. Mossberg makes a 12ga. pump with the same lengths as mine, in there Just In Case line. Remington makes a model 870 pump that has a 18in bbl., but has a regular stock. I know I have seem a pump with 18in bbl and a collasible stock, but don't recall who made them. You could buy a cheap used shotgunm and cut it down yourself and as long as it is in the ATF specs it will be legal.

To carry, I personally carry the Glock 26, I also have a 27 but prefer the 26 because with this light weight pistol and such a short grip, recoil affects your aim, I have clip extensions on one clip of each, gives me somewher to put my pinky as you can only get 2 fingers on the grip, I'd much druther have the stopping power of the 40cal in the 27, but the less recoil of the 9mm in the 26 makes it easier to hit what your shoting at, especially if your like me, getting old and your hands aren't as strong as they used to be. It doesn't matter what gun you use, if you can't hit what your aiming at.
In the house for personal defense I keep a Taurus Judge in my nightstand, with the first 2 chambers loaded with 410ga #4 shot and the other 3 with 45 Long Colt. Inside a house you are seldom going to need to shoot over 25 ft. And this revolver is ideal for that, besides you will only mess up one wall instead of going all the way throught the house, don't ask me how I know. I also keep a Glock 23 in the nightstand, the 40 cal in this heavier and longer gripped gun make it ideal. If I have time and can get to the gunsafe in the closet, I have all kinds of surprises for the perk.

Plan "B" may be to carry a Taser. This is because it targets the electrical side of the nervous system. And muscles work off of electrical impulses sent to them by the brain....interrupt this pathway and that persons body does not work as advertised. Besides, learning new fighting techniques takes both TIME and PRACTICE (not to mention staying in shape) whereas using a taser has no such requirements. Downside of the Taser is its designed to be used on a single person at close range (static-no projectile) unless you get the multiple-shot cartridge model (dynamic-wired projectiles). Again, you will likely need a concealed permit to carry one. I would also carry "Zip Strips" to secure your assailant until the authorities arrive (citizens arrest).

Just my 2-cents.
