• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I was a Captain on sail and power boats in Florida and the Carribean. I continue to live on my 42 foot Endeavor sail boat, but no longer charter.

I've had many different jobs, starting with being a chef at a restaurant, managing a hotel, running my own business, etc. I did settle in Information Technology though. Worked for 13+ years for a UK owned company selling and implementing different financial solutions throughout North & Latin America, Asia and Europe. Resigned after burning myself out with all the traveling and being on the road 75% of the time. For the last 2 years, I work as a Managing Director of an IT department for a Financial Institution in NY. I wish I could retire tomorrow, but that's not in my cards yet.....

I probably have an earlier post in this thread but...

I changed jobs four years ago... I am the founding member of the The Omphaloskeptics of Texas (TOOT). Hint... copy the word and do a search.

:yikes:

Retired but.....

4 years in the Army Security Agency (now INSCOM) - spent time in Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Lebanon . . . . you get the idea
Entered the wonderful world of computers just as the IBM 1401 came out.
Stayed in the technical side becoming an MVS System Programer
Made my way to the business side and became Vice President of Business Operation - Americas for a global computer storage company
Retired as Senior Director of Global Business Systems

Now I run the portal for our community, run errands for the boss, go on PGR missions and ryde my :spyder2: as much as I can.

Boy, I feel like i am hob nobing with the rich and famous. My life seems so boring after reading all these posts, but, you asked so here goes.
High School then Drafted into army (Vietnam era) lucked out and went to Germany where I drove a General around for two years.

Apprenticed with a Master Goldsmith for next four years

Opened and operated a trade shop for jewelry (did all the work for almost every jewelry store in Salem, OR) and had two retail jewelry stores.

With two daughters and my own business my time was a little more flexible so up to me to take them to gymnastics. I love kids and was not long before i was asked to help. One thing led to another and in a few short years I sold the jewelry stores and shop and opened a gymnastics academy.

Since I don't consider it WORK if your doing something you LOVE, I guess you could say I've not worked a day for the last 28 years. I am spending a little less time at the gym since I got my spyder buy will probably have to be carried out of the gym in a box when that time comes.

The saying that describes my life best was found on this very site..Sorry but I just have to steal it

WE DONT QUIT PLAYING BECAUSE WE GROW OLD; WE GROW OLD BECAUSE WE QUIT PLAYING
