• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What are these 'extra wires' hanging out the back of my Spyder?? Your Thoughts?

Hi All, I'm a new owner of a 2013 Spyder RT (4 weeks now). I'm the 3rd owner. I just noticed some wires hanging out the back after our last ride. I contacted the previous owner, and he does not know what they are from. All my electrical is working, so I am assuming it may have been for some sort of accessory. I don't believe it ever pulled a trailer... Your thoughts??

They really don't look OEM, and they definitely aren't present in or anywhere near that area on my 2013 RT; so as you surmised, I'd think they hafta be for some sort of accessory. Have you checked them with a multi-meter or test light to see if they're live all the time; switched on with the ignition; or if there might be some other switching arrangement for them?? :dontknow:

You don't have an extra switch on the dash panel with the Park Brake/Frunk Lid, the Heated Handgrips, or the ACS Adjust switches do you?? Even for the RT Ltd's of that vintage fitted with all the OEM options, there's usually at least one blank spot there...

I’d make sure they don’t have any excess slack in wires & secure away from hot tail pipe as well.

Did the bike ever have a trailer hitch? Anyway, if I was you, I would chase them back and get them out of there, the last thing you want is those wires going to ground and shorting out, if they have power in them!!

:agree:

Those are Positaps on the ends of the wires. They are absolutely NOT part of any original wiring or Can Am accessory wiring. Some previous owner must have had some accessory installed, most likely lighting. judging by their location, check to see if your right side saddlebag has the original reflector, or has been replaced with a lighted version. If it's a lighted version, I'll bet it's not currently working. (Hint: see if the left saddlebag has a light).
