What are the F3 Round Switch Blanks for?

F3-S. I ride with Patriot Guard Riders. I am planning on installing some flashing white LED's, which I have already ordered. I have a general idea of where I want to mount them. I am already using one of the accessory connections (the one under the left fairing) for a power cord for my cell phone. I think I remember there are two more accessory connections, one I found under the rear seat. Anyway, I would like to switch the LED's using a round, push-on, push-off 19 mm switch in one of the two round blanks next to the ignition switch. I pried the cover off of one of the blanks and there are several wires attached there. Any idea what they are all about? Are they connected to anything (I pulled and they seem to be hooked to something). I am planning on using the other round switch hole for fog lights, which I would like to install at a later date. Also, where is the third accessory connection, please? I would like to have the lights switched by the ignition circuit so I do not inadvertently run the battery down.

Any ideas/thoughts welcome. Thanks in advance.

Left side switch is for heated grips, right side is for fog/driving lights. Fog light wiring is already in place, add foglights and the switch and you're all set. I don't own an F3 so I don't know if the heated grip wiring is already in place or not.

Third accessory connection is behind front storage compartment on my 2020 F3-S Special Series. Not sure of your year model but I would guess yours is in same location.

I don't know about any of your switch locations, but I will advise you to check with your local authorities about the legality of having flashing lights. In some locations, unless you are an "authorized emergency vehicle", the only flashing lights you are allowed are your turn signals. In other locations, they don't care much, as long as they are not red or blue.

Best to find out before you go through the effort of installing.

Thanks, Monk. I tried the left blank, so I guess wiring is in place for heated grips even though the F3-S does not have (2015 model). I think I'll try to use this left switch and save the right for my planned fog lights.
I'm going to do some exploring and poking around to see how to get that switch cover off so I can work under it. Hopefully not too tough. I also need to find a nice push-on, push-off switch that is waterproof, 19mm.

Thanks Steve W. As Patriot Guard Riders we escort funeral processions which sometimes requires blocking intersections so the hearse, cars and riders can get safely through. We don't try to act as police officers, and we only run our lights to alert other drivers. Many of our riders run lights, usually white, green or purple. I ran white lights on my Goldwing before I bought my Spyder. In Alabama law enforcement does not object, as long as we do not abuse the use of the warning signals. They are very supportive of our missions, and we always are very thankful to them when they help escort us through busy cities and towns. Our mission is to honor the veteran or first responder, and their families.

As you have learned already - left is heated grips and right is fog lights - the F3S does come wired for both but neither installed. I used the left side to switch my stereo unit on/off (I wanted the option to use it with the bike off - aware of the battery draw when doing that).

That said - In case you don't know - the "ring" around the key hole will turn a quarter turn counter clockwise and pull up. Once this ring is off - that cover that holds the 2 switches on either side of it will lift off. Not a lot of room to play there - but was enough for me. I took the blank out for the heated grips - and just zip tied the heated grip plug to something down below so it wouldn't fall anywhere - had no plans to use it. Then I ran my wiring to that hole and mounted my switch there. Easy Peasy for any Shade Tree Mechanic with a small amount of wiring skills.

As far as extra lights, avoid strobe lights and blue lights. I have run on the front & back of all my wings since 1998 and now my F3 extra lights, even slow flashing red, and NEVER had a LEO say anything. I've been in all states shown in magenta with them. When you have been hit as many times as I have, conspicuous visibility is premium.
