What Accessories/Mods MUST I have for a New Spyder RS?

Personally, I love my motolights. Not cheap though. I have headlights, fogs and the motos. I just switched the motos over to yellow 50 watt halogens from the 35 watt "white" bulbs...To avoid violating any laws on forward facing light counts. I love them though. My mods fall into two camps:

#1 Priority - Safety Mods... this means lights.
#2 Priority - Comfort.

I probably ride 5% of the time at night, so extra lights are of no interest to me. Personally, I'd rather have the cold air intake (and I do) than fog lights. But you have to assess your personal ryding needs.

Actually, I put on extra front lights on all of my bikes to help to be seen... not necessarily to help to see.

In my opinion lights add to daytime safety as well. The more odd looking I appear coming down the road the better.

I'm soon getting a 2010 Spyder RS, What accessories/Mods are must have for a short distance rider, mostly evenings/night?

Some of these items are a must;
JuceBox
Stock exhaust sounds weak (what are the best sound and performance)
(I like the hindle and the two brothers but what do you think?)
K&N or Green (NoNeonMagic) air filter
Triple Play
FogLights (a must for here)
After market HID (Dealer option is expensive)/V-Leds.com
LED Bulbs NoNeonMagic/V-Leds.com

What do you think you would do to a stock bike now?

For Safety: You cant beat ESI for a variety of lighting options.

Look into the triple play and mudflap lights for extra visability from the rear when just running, or signaling and braking. Very easy installs, plug and play. If I can do it, most anyone can.

If you are having a hard time seeing the cars behind you with the stock mirror setup, get mirror extentions. They were a must for me.



For comfort:

Unless you like the sport bike position, get risers.

ESI has these in 3 or 4 inches and you can vary the angle:

And KewlMetal came out with a real nice set just as easy to install and even more adjustable 2-5 inches, you can vary the angle and you dont have to disassemble the reverse cable:

Actually, that's not just your opinion...it's fact as per studies...hence the reason all cars now have them...

NMN / ESI HID headlights and the 3" risers were two of the best things I put on my Spyder. Their LED brake light setup comes in third, mostly because I rarely see them in operation. Those HID headlights though..... Just WOW. :thumbup:

Of course everything on your list would be nice.

I am ONLY making this from the points of view of (1) relatively low cost, and (2) absolute ease of installation for Average Joe.

Drive for a week stock, then notice the "it feels like a different machine" euphoria after you add ANY one of these:

- Highway brackets and pegs.

- 4inch handlebar risers

- Mirror Extensions


If you search these threads, you will find very, very few complaints or regrets about adding any of these.

Do all three as soon as you can, would be my $0.02

OF COURSE a nice new seat, different exhaust, another windshield, plenty of luggage and as many lights as it can handle are always nice. Those you just have to select with more care, both for installation ease/time off the road, personal comfort, customer service, style, and pricing considerations.
