• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WELL

nope, no surprise
seems like it's after the same people get carried away with the need to argue and belittle others get on a roll.
There have been several pulled in the last month.
Ever notice it's after the same ones lose control?
And they don't even see/read what they do.
Sad
I am glad to see the threads are deleted.

Did I miss a good flame war ?
Again ?
Still, if it was a good one, I probably couldn't have read it anyway. More and more people are getting on my ignore list.

Man of his word.....

Lamont did say he would be cracking down and cleaning up... good to see it working...

I have always been one that likes discussions of hot button issues.

The key word here is discussions. When it becomes a flame war, people get threatened or demeaned--it's time to close it down.

I see that it is taking less time for the ax to fall. I think that is a good thing.

Some of the rudeness is really uncalled for. Thanks Lamont for culling the posts that need to be removed when they turn nasty.. I was on Big Bike World years ago ( mostky a Kawasiki ZX-11 site) and watched it fall into chaos with threatening posts and major rudeness. People left the site ( myself included ). The great site was finally shut down. It was sad to see a fine and helpful website die because of a few immature posters.

BBW did not have an " ignore" feature. Glad this site does.

So what actually happens when you put someone on the ignore list, I have never used it I always have done it by if I see a post by someone I want to ignore I have just simply not read it. I also always kind of thought that feature was fictitious until today.

I left Peterson's Welding Web probably about 5-7 years ago for pretty much the same reason. The were some who were knowledgeable and helpful and then you had a few that seemed to suffer from Small **** Syndrome and the way they made up for their "short comings" was to be as brash and arrogant as possible to others.

Life is too short to put up with much of that!

When the person posts that you have on "ignore," a note pops up in the thread saying "so and so" is on your ignore list. You are given the option to "peek" if you want. After being read, the note and block out pop up again.

I am not sure if the "ignored" is notified they are on the list.

I am back to one only--but it sure is peaceful lately. :roflblack::roflblack:
