• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:shocked: I had to take a break from the brakes... :D After taking an hour this morning convincing the Missus that I wasn't gonna blowe up the Spyder or the garage she finally quit pouting and went off to mow the lawn... :yes:
Fire up the computer and find the rear brake section in the shop manual... Uh-Oh! There's a parking brake section that I'm gonna need also! :gaah: It's miserable crawling around down there with the muffler in the way... (I never said that I followed directions...:opps:), but it appears do-able! :thumbup: Dig out a 13mm wrench... a couple of them to see how to remove the caliper mounting bracket! Got it! :thumbup: Oops! I should have loosened the pins holding the pads in place and the caliper to the bracket first! :lecturef_smilie: Pull and replace pads and loosely hook things back together! Biggest flat-bladed screwdriver to pry things apart and slide that sucker back up into place... YESSS!:2excited: Tighten up what's loose and stop to catch my breath before the parking brake... I think that both the Byke and I will survive this! :2thumbs:

Actually I ordered it from a place on E-Bay and just keep it here on the computer... The vendor downloaded a copy to me and it's too many pages to be worth printing...

So how many miles did you get on your original front and rear brakes?

Quick question, where do you fine the service manual online? Thanks

AC:spyder2:

Order from mmanuals.com which is Mighty Manuals. Midwest Manuals is out of business and their website will take you to paypal for Dewey Cheatem and Howe. I got mine from Mighty Manuals about 6 weeks ago they send it on a CD. $19.99

I kept those original pads on for 5240 miles. :yikes: I'm not real happy with the mileage that I got out of them, but hopefully these "Gen 3" pads will last a bit longer.
They were worn down to about .025", so they had given their best and done their time...

bob, since you saved all this money doing your own brakes, maybe its time for the "missus" to let you do a mod now!!:roflblack::dontknow:

Bob, I changed out my front and rear pads to the Gen 3 and they don't squeal at all. I had about 13,000 miles. The quietness was worth the price.

That's the first thing that I noticed backing out of the garage... my squeal was gone! :D

Saved money equals modifications?? I don't think that my Missus and you went to the same schools... :sour: :roflblack:

(Not to worry... I DO know how to get myself in a heap of trouble in a hurry!) :ohyea:

haha bob, you crack me up...:popcorn:

I might be ignorant but what are gen 3 pads mine squeal constantly people are always looking when they do

Well it took BRP 3 tries to get a brake pad that didn't squeal. Search Gen 3 and you should find a thread that has the part # for the new pads. If you are going to change them be sure that you give the part # to your dealer as mine tried to give me Gen 2 pads for the front. I was able to exchange them for the Gen 3 for an additional $30. Some have been able to get theirs changed under warranty.

These are the numbers for the Gen 3 pads
Front= 219800164
Rear= 219800165
At least they were for my GS, I would assume there the same for your RT? But you know happens when you assume, So i would double check it.
Oh bye the way they did stop the Garbage truck squeal.:thumbup:
