• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WELL I HAD A FIRST YESTERDAY MORNING

couple hours later

i was heading to Helen, GA for a ride with a couple other SPYD3R ryders.... i was 3rd in line, when i saw a small bird fly across my bow... didn't think much of it at the time.... when we stopped in Helen.... one of the other guys said, "hey, you've got a bird in your grill".... sure enough, it was stuck (and dead) in the grill of my F3.....

i've also been hit in the helmet by one in the pass... that was on my RS... got a squirrel once, yuk... and almost a dog twice...
SPYD3R

I caught a bird once with my helmet years ago on my 2 wheeler, thankfully it was a full face and my visor was down. Yuck!!!

I once hit a low-flying woodchuck, right at the apex of a corner with my GoldWing... :yikes:
It picked the bike up, and moved it over about a foot: while I was busy scraping the floorboards on the asphalt! Faint.gif

I've never had a bird strke, but lots of giant bugs.

I'm just glad I always wear a helmet shield.

I get claustrophobic if I wear a full helmet for too long, so I wear a half helmet...

Do you know what hurts worse than a June Bug hitting you on the upper lip? (That'll bring tears to your eyes.)

Riding down the road, on a bike with apes, in a sleeveless shirt, and get hit by mating Dragonflies in your armpit. (The shrapnel cut my armpit up. Tender skin in that area...)

On my Goldwing once, I hit a pheasant. First it hit the windshield and then my helmet. I had a sore neck for a week. The pheasant didn't have any long term aches or pains due to his lack of life after this incident.

Spyder "1" Buzzard "O"

I was at the end of the line of riders and saw a buzzard fly down. Everyone missed him but me. Apparently just as the rider in front of me went by he ( the buzzard) decided it was time to go and started to do his hop hop thing before taking flight. Well that was when I hit him. Luckily for me I rolled over it. Big bump and feathers went everywhere. No damage to bike but the buzzard was DOA.:yikes:

I was coming home.from work in the late 70's and a unlucky bird thought it could fly thru my front wheel. It was a spoked wheel. Saw the bird go into the wheel and come out like.it had gone thru a wood chipper. Also ran over a hedgehog, left quills in.my rear tire.

Never hit a bird while riding but did get hit in the chest by a large bat while riding my RD400 in the Philippines in the late '70s. Ended up with a large bruise on my chest but the bat didn't make it home.

:D I was hoping that you'd show up for this one!
I'd have nicknamed the bike "37". It'd be an homage to the Ithaca Model 37 pump-action shotgun... absolute death and destruction to gobblers! nojoke

I had a butterfly hot my windshield does that count :roflblack::roflblack:
I had a large one smack me in the forehead... it stung more than you'd ever think. I don't remember my speed. I could see it coming all the way, but took no evasive action; who would think one would actually hit you?
Q: How do you know when a butterfly farts?
A: When it flies in a straight line for six inches. ;)

At 70mph on the freeway two brown birds (larger than robins) on the pavement ahead took flight at my approach. One smacked into the lower part of the windshield. No damage, no mess, but I'm sure it didn't survive. I was glad it didn't hit me, though.

Another time on the same freeway the car in front of me clipped an empty pallet lying halfway in the lane. It shattered and flew up in the air. One plank came spiraling back down right in front of me... I couldn't avoid it. I feared a collision with it but luckily it landed just before I hit it. I ran over it, but no ill effects. Whew!
