• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well I finally gave up!

It kind of saddens me to read this post. I was really looking forward to getting my first Spyder. :banghead: I have been riding bikes for about 20 yrs. now and still plan to keep the bikes but am very impressed with the technology on the Spyders. The ABS, traction control, stability control and everything else seems like the way to go.I also like the idea of three wheels and not having to worry about trying to pick-up an 800 lb. motorcycle by myself since that is how I do most of my riding(most harley riders that I know don't ride the miles that I like to ride). Now, not so sure. I know that there are god and bad examples of everything out there, so I am willing to give them a chance. Most people seem to think that thye are only as good as the local dealership and if that is the case then I am in trouble. Our local dealer doesn't seem to be interested in doing anything with them. If you don't walk in ready to buy, he doesn't have time for you. I have heard a Mississippi dealer that is pretty good but they are 3 hrs. away. I have also heard about a dealer in Greenville, Texas, which is further away but I don't mind traveling (that is what the bikes are for isn't it). I am not ready to give up on Spyders yet, so I will keep looking for an RT. I will also keep watching the forum for any help I can get.

BBBANDIT...Loius Powersports in Greenville, TX are great...they are properly trained to build and service the :spyder2: and the customer service is top notch.

We first test drove at another dealer and that experience was awful, handled terrible, walked all over the road, overheated on the test drive, :banghead: etc. etc. etc....made me wonder if we really wanted a :spyder2:...we waited a full year before we purchased and when we did, we went to Greenville. It was like comparing Godiva chocolate to Cow poop! :yikes: So glad we waited and followed some advice from here on spyderlovers.

Good luck.

Check out the dealer in Shreveport - sells RV's - but has a large Spyder sales/service as well. Maybe someone else in the Shreveport area can offer plus/minus about the dealer. Also a fast ride across the border to Conroe, TX will place you at a top notch dealer/service. (my brother purchased his 2012 Limited Ed RT there and is VERY pleased with sales/service - and other Houston area Spyder owners drive the distance to have their bikes serviced here as well)

Just some thoughts

I totally agree with you BRP has a lot of Issues with such a crappy product they sell and the price don't warrant all these Issues listed on the site its all because as I said before no service after the sale is their motto just the sale is important to them take the money and run to the bank now a few people are happy like the one,s that get a free bike every once in a while but most of us that got problem s with the bike seems never to get it fixed and you hit the nail right on the head they don't CARE but the ones that well a few that don't have a problem with theirs just don't understand the frustrations of it all and write ya back like ya a dummy for complaining but open your eyes and look how many people write and have problems I like rideing my bike but when you have Body parts falling off and other crap you cant even go for a long ride and wonder if you can get back like spyderfest how many will break down ? I,am looking to trade mine in soon Maybe to get a better one so glad your out of the spyder ownership maybe if a lot more did that they would smarten up but don't see that happening good luck with your new Bike what ever you get thanks Rich

I did not get either of my Spyders for free, and I have had some issues, but you know what, they were actually taken care of under the warranty. When I had issues with my front sprocket I had to call BRP customer service and they were very friendly and helpful. Perhaps it is because when I called I did not have a bad attitude and was not brow beating the machine, dealership, or the parent company. I am not sure exactly what your experience has been, but I have had my Spyder since the early days of all the DPS issues. It took a while, but BRP finally got that situation sorted out, like they will most others they know about. As others have stated, if you do not have a good reliable dealership to go to then you are likely going to be in for more problems just like with any other vehicle. I have to drive well over 1.5 hours one way to reach any dealer for service and also have a couple I will not go to.

BBBandit, don't let a few negative reports like this totally control your decision. If there is any way possible, you should try to make it to SpyderFest where you would see a mess of Spyders happily running around without any major issues.

Like the others said, the dealer isn't part of the solution, they are really the only solution, and a bad dealer can ruin a good bike. You must be a much nicer person than I am, because after day 5 of not having my bike I would have been down their throats! I am a lawyer, I tend to be rather outspoken, and I write a mean complaint letter, usually complete with threats of litigation and government intervention, where necessary. Not very often mind you, and never have had to do that with my Spyder dealer. I had three bmw's and on the third one, lemon. I bought it used from my cousin or I would have received a refund, but as it was, threat of a class action for a known defect was very persuasive argument for out of warranty repairs. I fixed it, sold it, and swore off the brand for practicality sake. I could have gone to the next closest dealer, 150 miles in each direction. No thanks! But sometimes that is what you have to do! Good luck on your next bike. Try a Victory!
