There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Well...I did it!!!! Bought a Spyder

Congratulations!

After researching Spyders since November and trying to find the best deal, I took the plunge. I just put a deposit down on a 2016, Intense Red Pearl, Can-Am Spyder F3-T SE6!!! It will come with rider foot boards and a backrest and armrests for the passenger. I can't wait until it arrives (2-4 weeks). I will post pictures after it arrives.

You are going to love the new ride! Enjoy!

I see that you are at Deals Gap. Did you ride the Tail of the Dragon on your Spyder??? I have been there three times and rode it on my Harley Heritage Softail Classic. I'll have to do it on my Spyder some day!!!

I was up there just a few weeks ago, always a fun ride!

Good News, Bad News

I have some good news and I have some bad news.

The good news is that my Spyder has been shipped and is on its way to me

The bad news is that I will be out of town for 5 days either before it arrives or shortly thereafter. :(

The big question is - will I be able to concentrate on anything else when I am out of town???????????
:banghead:

Well...

I just heard that a communication problem has resulted in a shipping delay until Monday or Tuesday. Patience is a Virtue!!!

It's Here!!

Well, my Spyder arrived while I was out of town. Torture!!! I was able to do a 15 mile ride today. Fun!! The only drawback so far is that it did seem like the steering was pretty "squirrely" - quite sensitive. It did help when I loosened my grip, but I still had to be VERY attentive to the steering. Part of this may be due to the fact that I ride a motorcycle and had to try to develop a different riding technique to the Spyder. i am hoping that the Baja Ron Sway Bar I bought will help once it's installed. Any one have any other suggestions?

Great news. I am looking to buy and thought the RT was for me but I'm 6'3. Did not like the foot and leg positioning. Sat on a F3 and changed my mind. Is the F3-T a touring model like the RT?

Yes and No

I came to exactly the same conclusion that you did after sitting on both an RT and F3. I just did not like the leg position on the RT. The big advantage for the F3 is the UFit system. Unless otherwise specified, the F3-T comes with a "standard" or "average" configuration. It works fine for me (5'10"), although I "might" have gone with short reach bars and a one-positonlonger leg reach if I had to do it over again. I strongly suggest that you go to an authorized Spyder dealership that has the UFit Customizing set-up on the showroom floor. There you can simulate 3 different handlebar options and 5 different foot peg options to see what combination fits you best (I did not do this). I am certain there is a configuration that will work fine for you thatyou could order if you are going to buy new from a dealer.

Is the F3-T a "tourer"? Sort of. I like the low cruiser position of the F3 (as opposed to the high ATV position of the RT), since it feels like my Harley. The F3, I think, will allow more leg repositioning (I got footboards put on mine) compared to the rather "locked-in" foot position I experienced on the RT (although there are MANY RT owners who do extensive touring on the RT and love it). What the F3-T lacks for touring (and the RT has) is storage space. The F3-T frunk and two saddlebags do not hold a tremendous amount of gear. You can add a top box or trailer to increase storage. The 2017 F3-Limited comes standard with a top box standard (at a premium price). The shocks are adjustable of the F3-T and Limited, but the way they adjust vary somewhat between years and models.

I suggest you continue to do you research and absolutely take a test ride.

Hope this helps and good luck.

The muscle memory that you have developed riding conventional bikes cause the problem. You have power steering on the Spyder, relax your arms and just hold the handgrips tight enough to maintain contact and things will be better. Over time you will build Spyder habits if you start out concentrating on not doing the things you did on the bike. By the way the two tone paint looks far better than I thought it would. Very pretty bike, very different from my basic black base model.
