• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Weird FOBO Question.....

And now for perhaps the weirdest question yet about FOBO.....

I'm interested in getting the FOBO system. However, I DON'T have a smartphone (so I realize that I'd be sacrificing the realtime warning features of the system). But I like that I could check my air pressures before heading out, without undoing the valve caps, etc (especially at the rear tire). The thing is though, that I DO have an iPad Mini with Bluetooth. The app is compatible so, I assume that the system would work with it, except for......

.....the fact that it appears that you must touch the FOBO sensor with the "phone" (iPad Mini?) to pair them. Is that correct - Do you literally have to TOUCH the two together so that they actually make contact? Or is getting really close good enough?

The reason I ask is that I'm concerned that the iPad MINI may be too large to make full contact with the unit on the rear tire valve stem. So, would I definitely be out of luck, or is there any way around this? Like perhaps you can make contact between the Bluetooth device and FOBO sensor before putting the sensor onto the valve stem? (I may be grasping at straws here, I know....)

Thanks!

I cannot answer your question directly but can tell you that virtually all the Bluetooth devices I have ever used do not need to physically touch to pair. A recommended distance of 3 feet or less between the two devices should enable them to pair.

I can't answer your question completely, Newbert, but I CAN say that the link does not seem to establish if your Bluetooth device is not touching the FOBO. However, I have not tried it from 6" away, (mine was 2' away) and unfortunately I am out all day and can't try it today. I'd say that the need to touch is because you have 3 FOBO sensors within a few feet of each other and it needs to ensure it is correcting to the correct one.

Once it is linked, the blue tooth certainly works from 3+ feet away, but it is that initial link that presents the issue. Hopefully someone has tried it from 6" away and can give you an answer. If not, I'll give it a try tomorrow.

No Problem!!!

There should be adequate room for your iPad to connect with all 3 wheel valve stem connectors.

Where there's a WHEEL, there's a way!!!

You should be able to touch the corner of the iPad to the FOBO!
