There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Weight Limit and Ryding 2-up

I'm a big guy, 6'2", 250. My girlfriend is pretty big too, 6', 215. I've got the 2011 RS SE5, and by the book, that puts us 25lbs over the max weight if I want to take her out ryding with me.

I imagine that the 440lb limit includes some engineering safety cushion, but how much? I've already got the suspension cranked all the way up (down?) to stiffen the ride when I'm out solo. I know the Nanny needs to compensate for extra weight, but will 25-30 lbs over be too much?

Does anybody have any experience overloading the RS?

I've been overloaded before 2-up and a lot of luggage, make sure all springs are cranked up to the highest, tread lightly into corners until you are used to the load. You should be fine, if you are going to ride 2-up often I would invest in Elka's 3 stage in rear and stage 1 in front would help carry the weight. If you order Elka's I would order them from Cowtown and give them all you weights both for single and double up riding and they could get them built to handle the load.

Now for a legal disclaimer you should not run overloaded, but with the choice of going overloaded or leaving it parked. I know what I would do.

Great advice here.

Yup, good advice Jedd. You really can feel the difference, too. I'm big like you, in fact almost the same size. And my Wife, well, my Wife is so Fa-------bulously thin that I don't have this trouble!! :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

Honey, if your reading this, I LOVE YOU!! :roflblack: :roflblack:

Reminds me of that old classic song "Shaving Cream".

Our baby fell out of the window,
you think that her head would be split,
but it was lucky for her,
she landed in a big barrel of Shhhhh.....aaaaving Cream

Weight Limit/Elka Shocks

Which Elka's should one use for riding 2 up on a 2012 RS-S ? Me n my wife are bigger people and would be around 560 lbs combined. Lamont said Stage 5. The Elka site only had up to stage 3 for motorcylcles. Would I need to replace the front shocks as well? Not sure what to get. Any sugestions?:D

Contact John at Elka or Len at Cowtown, and they can tailor some Elkas for your needs.

I weigh 280, 6'1" tall and wife is 150, 5'5" tall. We rode 2 up with the shocks set in the middle, stock till we got the 2nd Spyder. Never had a problem.

I think I have the record: two-up, fully outfitted, definitely more than 600 lbs on an RS a few months back. Did a few hundred miles riding like that.

The acceleration was a bit sluggish, but not terribly so. Felt like an RT, heh.

The handling was fine, but I didn't push it. Rode very casually.

The stock suspension (maxed out) handled the normal bumps fine, but I bottomed out once on a backroad. And when you bottom out on a Spyder, you bottom out. CLANK OUCH!!

Anyway, I won't be doing that again on a routine basis-- simply because I know at that weight I'm not leaving any margin for error. But sure, it can be done, as long as you ride like a blind grandma!

Elka Shocks

I talked to John from Elka today, he said that the stage 1 shocks would work fine on the Spyder, does anyone have these on their bike ?

Adjust your shocks up to the max. and also tire pressure to the recommended upper limit, Have fun and ride safe.

:2thumbs: You are the bravest individual that I have ever known...:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: :firstplace:

Is BRP's weight limit for the spyder based solely on the factory shocks or are there other factors that they have considered other than the tire pressures? I ask b/c it seems (from this thread) as though if Elka's are used you don't have to be concerned about the BRP weight limit. I just ask b/c if a problem arises can BRP fall back on the weight limit posted in the owner's manual? This is assuming that a malfunction or possible accident can be traced back to the weight limit being exceeded.

I dont appreciate your comments, keep them to yourself.

He was just kidding. I wanted to welome you to our forum. You will love it here. We all have unique personalties here and Mouth piece is a unique one for sure. I'm sure he ment no disrespect in that comment. :congrats: on your 2012 Green Spyder deposit. I was an inch close to trading mine for that excact model this year. It is a nice machine.

I have lost 20 pounds already, I dont get the munchies anymore since I gave up smoking 2 weeks ago. Which make me a little edgy. And I have the sickness :barf: and I am a little grumpy today, no offense taken. Gonna start using an amazing product called ViSalus Sciences. I have a couple of people who have lost at least 50 pounds with the ViSalus 90 day challenge. Check it out, link bellow.

Yes I do apologize if I caused any sensitivity. I can assure you that was not my intention. Artnufun is exactly right. I do come out with some real doozies. I guess I like to laugh at myself and just don't take things all that seriously. Again, please accept my apologies.
