We are developing a new windshield for the RS

Hey folks, Don here from F4 Customs.
As you probably know we have windshields for the RT in various heights and widths, tints and Clear, and vented and no vents.
We are developing a new windshield for the RS and I would like to have your opinions on the following:
What height and Width would you like to see?
Clear or Tint?
Vent or not?
These shields will have the same scratch resistance and rain shedding as our RT shields and be made of polycarbonate of course.

The stock one is really small but sporty looking. Not fond of the really big ones, though you will get what you need from those that do, but tinted for sure, bigger yes. I currently have the MSR... which works well for me at 6'1" adjusting for freeway and sideroads...just taper for the bars stop to stop. This one is at the limit. Any wider and you will need to put in cut outs. Vents no vents you would know how much it would help. Guess thats also where and when you ryde weatherwise. Good luck and keep us updated with your progress. Would like to see what comes of this we need mods for the sport ryders..:thumbup:

Hey Don,
Any chance you can go pay Lamont a visit and come up with something nice for the F3? The bike hasn't been released yet and they have already eliminated one of the windscreen options. That bike is begging for something aftermarket. We have our deposit down and our fingers crossed that they start shipping bikes shortly into the new year.

Don, When I had my 08 GS I owned every windshield that F1 made...The one I like the best was his "Queen" slider one...Mine was a + 2" wide on each side to accommodate the mirror extensions..It was a tinted lower section and a clear top section...It kept the wind off your helmet and shoulders when needed, and could be lowered when you wanted the wind on you...

Hopefully someone on SL still has one and they can chime in with a picture and measurements...

I'm now very happy with you RT stock height, extra width and vented clear one on my 14 RT...

i can't wait to see what you come up with. i got an 09 RS SE5 in september of this year and i have the the next step up in wind screens from BRP ame with the bike i believe 17", i have shaped the top with a slight curve as the small original one has it helps,but i also am looking for one a little bigger (as some are just to huge) and wider to fit in at the mirrors sort of like this

but clear on the upper parts and not as wide at the top

I vote for this windshield, only with a dark tint. My 2cents worth.

I'm currently looking for a new windshield for my RS. I am 6'6" and about 270lbs so I'm having a hard time finding something that will not give me helmet buffering and provide good wind/rain protection. I currently have a MadStad which is a good windshield, but it's not quite large enough to give me the protection I need (I get helmet buffering). As for clear or tint I really like a light tint on my windshield so I can still see through it at night time, but it is not completely clear during the day. Plus I think a light tint windshield looks best on a Spyder.

P.S. If you need a test pilot for a windshield I would be willing to be your man and give you honest and constructive feedback.

I'm interested too. The standard is too low and the touring one I've seen is too high, I'd like a tint somewhere in the middle.

I have a 2011 RS-S SE5. My need a new windshield for the winter. How do you measure a windshield on a RS? I have seen different ways to measure windshields on different websites.

I have a 27" high windshield I use in the winter and a BRP Sport/Touring 17" high windshield for the summer and that's works for. No vent, if you look at a stock windshield at the bottom that is a vent. Make thicker so it does not twist at top at highway speeds, I have Calsci windshield and it twist in the wind and cracks at the top, I sand about a 1/4 of a inch off every year off the top of the windshield and the windshield turns a light blue below 40 deg. F. I can't wait to see the new RS windshield by F4 Customs.

Im new on the spyder but the stock windshield seems pretty useless, the touring one that was on my 08 when i got it is a little bigger but not a lot. i would like one just a couple inches taller, especially since i am goign to get risers and assume i will have my head higher up after installing them. I alway like the shields that start dark on the bottom and get lighter as they go up.

Would love a midsize windshield for the rs with dark tint or even black with racing stripe would be kick ass
