• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WD-40 stops brake squeal.

The issue here was not brake squeal, but how I ruined the brake pads with tire shine sprayed onto the rotors.

Good tip Dan. I've sprayed mine a time or two with no issues, but obviously I was lucky. I'll go with spraying on a sponge and wiping on from now on. Thanks. :)

WD40 on brake discs...seen it done before. Some of the bicycle riders are an odd bunch and any noise drives them insane...squeaky brake, lube it, never said they were friends or smart. They do make things spectacular though.

Spyder brakes squeak, bicycle brakes squeak, normally it's just dust and I don't get work up over it.

My brakes are squeeking pretty bad. When you apply brakleen do you need to take the wheels off and brakes apart to donut properly?

I think there are instructions on the can. But you do not have to disassemble anything. Spray each side of the rotor as you spin the wheel. The brakekleen will get wiped off on to the pad material this way. This may not resolve your problem. But it is a good place to start.

Hey a little cup grease will STOP the squeek... but not the Spyder

It always pays to check the date on earlier posts, as well as the last one in the thread.... :oldpost:

Posting in old threads is not necessarily a bad thing per se, especially if it's following on from the earlier discussion &/or keeping all the knowledge/info/advice on the subject in the one place, making it easier for later searchers/seekers of advice to find, but Dave, everything before post #23 in this thread (ie, about 4 up) is almost 6 years old, and that means Bob last posted in this thread almost 6 years back, so I don't really think he's going to reply here, now or in the future.... :dontknow:

But did you mention BACON?? :ohyea:
