Way better Y-pipe gasket for 1/2 the price

High temp rtv silicone

For those that can't use the gasket you can use the high temp rtv silicone. Put a thin coating on the male side of the pipe and slip it in to the female side slowly so it won't all roll up on the lip. Granted the rtv is only 600 degrees rated but if you add some fine stainless filings to the paste it will reinforce the temp standing ability and make for a stronger seal. A little messey :gaah:doing it but mix it on a piece of aluminum foil and it will work every time.

Let me know how it works for you.

for the big end gasket

If some one will pm me the measurements I think I might have a real good solution for that one too! I'll be out of pocket for 3 or 4 days so don't expect the post for a few days.

Y pipe gaskets

I got my GL1800 exhaust gaskets today and I can tell out of the box it's going to be a better gasket. The material is much better and weighs about twice as much as the stock gasket. I received two new BRP gaskets at the same time and they were damaged when I opened up the bag. The Honda gaskets were just under 6 bucks and the stock gaskets are just under 12 bucks. The Honda gasket is just a tad longer but ID and OD are the same.

Part number for the Honda GL1800 gasket is 18392-MAM-000

I'm after a pair of these. I rang my local Honda shop in Sydney (Aus) and was told they were $27 each. Ouch!

Would someone be willing to put a couple in the mail to me and work out the cost say by Paypal?

Cheers;

Pogo.

PoGo...

I keep 10 to 20 in the cabinet all the time. I just got 10 fresh ones in stock. Send me a pm with address and quantity that you wish. Also be advised these that I just got cost me $8 with tax. I was told by dealer that honda had just raised prices 15%. Last ones I bought 3 months ago were 6.50 and tax. Just reimburse me for the 8 I paid and shipping.

Also do you need any relays? I have the small and large units. Borg warner types and they are 30/20. Small ones cost me 9 and the big one was 17. Let me know. /Ken

Still searching for the ...

large exhaust gasket. I haven't given up the search yet. The one I thought may be a good sub was no better and it was too small. / ken

Hello,
I am about to install a LeoVince exhaust and I'm wondering if I will be needing a new gasket(Honda or BRP)?... sorry I'm not that mechanically inclined.... but I want it to be a good installation and no leaks... any advice appreciated.....

thanks
Dennis

When you install the Leo make sure you remove the old gasket and clean the pipe.
The Leo is a slip joint connection and does not need a gasket.

Thank you!

I got it on... and not bolted, they forgot to include the spacer that helps lock down the bracket for the can... oh well... gotta wait another few days to ride the Spyder...

Awesome find!!
Going to order some to be ready when they are needed. Am thinking of wrapping my pipes ---- and will swap them then.

Speaking of which - has anyone had their pipes ceramic coated?

Now if we could just find some better bearings !

I had my pipes coated by Jet Hot with their extreme sterling coating. VERY NICE!!!!!!

Good exhaust gasket news and bad e/g news...

I've found a lower collector gasket. Id 2.625" Od 2.875 bad news... I just talked with the U.S. manufacturer Rep and the sample gaskets won't arrive for 2 weeks.

They will be SS wire laminated with graphite. Temperature range up to 5500 F. I have seen some pictures and the gaskets look like the GL1800 gaskets that many of us are using on the upper Y pipe just different dimensions. I will post pictures and more information soon. \ Ken

For some reason, I just knew you'd find one. Bulldog should be your name. ;)

I got a leak in the right side so I tore down the exhaust and found the left side was eaten down about half way, the right side was not there. I would have to say from the looks of the pipe that it was never there. Maybe it ate away entirely but the left side left black marking behind and the right side just looks like virgin pipe with a little carbon from the exhaust gases. Now all I have to do is get it put back together. While I had it tore down I replaced the intake with the kewlmetal one and did a wire job on the connector for the battery tender. Anyone know if the charging system will handle a heated jacket and gloves?

It will as long as you're not running too much other aftermarket stuff. And, some say to keep the revs up, too. I never had problems but I always had it on a Battery Tender when parked.

I always figured that we had about 150w for aftermarket goodies... max.

It will handle it, But on my Spyder at an idle fog lights [55w] heated jacket[76w] my battery light will
sometimes come on, Then the steering will lock until i up the rpm's.
Marginal charging system at best. :dontknow:

Nancy's Spyder handles her heated jacket and gloves, or my heated vest readily, but when we are in stop and go we turn off the foglights, and sometimes even the heated gear. We never turn on the heated gear until we hit the road, either. The Spyder will not charge enough to handle these at idle...or even at 2,500 rpm.
