• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

They all said that they don't belong to a forum??????????:dontknow:
I don't know what I would do without the support of this awesome forum

Just wanted to say thanks to all who keep this site afloat :2thumbs:

:agree: I feel the same. But with HD you have a lot of riding clubs and service points to get support. Despite the thousands of Spyders around is hard for anyone to find more than a handful fellow owners at driving distance, even in large cities. This forum provides a vital service for us (and is fun)!

I suspect that the vast majority of Spyder owners around the world are also not participating in these Spyder forums.

HDX belongs to some HD forums - and alot of them are quite hysterical - really funny jokes in there:2thumbs:

But also good tech info which I do not understand but he does :)

What do you expect---- they're still using air-cooled technology----- :roflblack:

What is so funny about that? I've never seen HDX's Harley down for any reason whatsoever. Nothing, nada, zip. Never had a problem w/ my previous Harleys either. And HDX doesn't baby his bike either.

So that means they are riding and enjoying their Spyders without the doom and gloom that they may not get back home. Hope they have good dealers because this site has way more info than they do.

It's funny (at least to me) because the rest of the world pretty much gave up on air-cooled engines many, many years ago---- at least in real performance machines. Heck --- even my last dirt bike was water-cooled. Sure - they have a certain appeal to many (and there are other brands that still use them for their cruisers) - but HD really is behind the ball on technology. For whatever reason they have refused to really embrace water cooled engines (with the excecption of the V-rod).

Buell had just started to make the switch to water cooled engines (via Rotax Helicon engine) and then HD closes them down. Maybe HD will take a hint and use the Helicon in one of their bikes - but I doubt it.

Want more performance in a smaller package that runs smoother---- liquid cooled is no big secret. Put it this way - I've got buddies with 1800cc HD engines that put out less HP than my 990cc Rotax.

So my joke was a reference to HD being stuck in time --- before Al Gore invented the internet---- :joke:

I happen to be a fossil, who prefers the air-cooled engines. There are some phenomenal ones. For the record, much of the shift to water-cooled motorcycle engines was to control emissions, and keep the EPA happy. Frankly. I'd be perfectly happy if the FLH still was powered by a Panhead, and the Sportster still had an iron motor. Technology is vastly over-rated. :roflblack:

On the other hand, Smylinacha, who swiped your sense of humor these days? I'm worried about you. Don't let this stuff worry you into being a grump. Firefly was just poking a little fun. :D

Sorry Scotty, I have no sense of humor left anymore. I started doubting my bike not long after I bought it - but I kept trying to be positive. I never owned anything that squealed like a banshee, that ran real hot and freaked me out in the summer, that ran like cr@p just because it was humid out, and then the sterring problem. I kept putting them all aside saying, "Don't worry, it will all get straightened out". Well to tell you the truth - I HAVE ZERO FAITH IN BRP. None, nada, zip. I paid money to have this? And then on top of it, I ride every single weekend w/ Roaddog - and I thought I had problems - he's always got a message scrolling, his bike has been in the shop for a good amount the beginning of the riding season. I see p osts on here where people are getting the run around. I have NEVER owned anything where you have to "work" to get a question answered. So I'm thinking it over and pretty much potentially done w/ this machine until they come up with a SOLID fix AND an apology for stringing people along. When I think of BRP, I think of Terrence & Philip from South Park. That's it. I have lost my faith in them and I have appts at other dealers this weekend to poke around at some other alternatives. I will NOT ride this thing until they fix stuff and the more I see people with the same problem, the more mad I get because there is no resolution and I don't see any coming down the pike - just like how they have this new update out on rerouting the purge vent hose - well we had to figure that one out before they did. Just like someone else posted on this forum - this forum is GREAT cuz there is more info on it than BRP or any dealers have.

Hang in there girl. Life will get better. I would be greatly surprised if some other people didn't get fed up and leave the Spyder for good. That is sad! People can't help how they are wired, and how their experience and confidence will make them react to situations like this. Personally, after a lifetime of riding Brit bikes, leaking Harleys, Indians with no dealers, etc., and working on all this junk incessantly just to go 100 miles once in a while, I have a way to go before I become frustrated enough to quit or to let the dealer keep my $1,000 RT deposit. The time could come, though. I can't say it hasn't crossed my mind.

I don't think BRP's response is any different than most manufacturers, but sooner or later they have to step up to the plate. I hope for everyone's sake that the time for that is real soon. Meanwhile, I'm afraid they will continue to lose old and new customers alike. When someone who was as enthusiastic about the Spyder as you were at first blush, becomes wary and disgusted, there is a problem...no matter whether it is real or imagined, actually experienced or not. As they say, "The perception of a problem is a problem." I hope you find a way to cheer up soon. Still worried about ya.

No need to worry Scotty - I've got an expert gearhead (like you) for a husband. We're talking about some alternatives - that's all. And I 100% trust anything he says. And he doesn't like me riding it w/ these problems. You should have heard my whining the way home. I didn't wanna go over 75 on the highway. Just a couple weekends ago we were on our favorite stretch of Route 8 - where I like to go 100 - well I didn't, because of it. I sure hope they get all this nailed down before they start doling out the new models. It would be a shame to see the same problems. And you have a ton of experience with oogles of different bikes - and I take that to heart - I really do!

But I'm A-Otay - life is more important than a machine. I just want to be happy and not scared or question anything - Life's too short - might as well enjoy it ya know?
