• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I found out the hard way.:gaah: I put my GPS and my LED controler in the box on the top in front of the set on my RTS. Well it got so hot it did destroy all the electronic's in those items.:yikes: Once in awhile I would put my IPhone in there also. I wounder why it would freeze up and didn't know why. Now I know. Please learn from my mistake.:lecturef_smilie:
PS
No chocolate bars either.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Not sure if I understand exactly where you placed these items...:dontknow:

I believe he's talk'n about the "GloveBox" on the RT. The compartment right in front of the saddle and between the saddle & the handlebars.

It gets rather hot in there, :yikes: as we've learned that by trying the chocolate scenario he mentioned :lecturef_smilie:

That may be why it is called a "glove box". It has been my experience that when anything is enclosed and left exposed in the sun without any insulation, it will get hotter than the surface of the container. I do not own any electronic gadgets for the RT, but if I did and removed them for security, I would put them in the deepest part of the rear trunk and cover them with something to provide insulation. I would also not leave them for an extended period of time in direct sunlight.

Mine was hot also so I just had my dealer install the "glove box heat shield kit". A recommendation from Nancy'sToy.
I didn't recommend it, I just explained it. I never had these components on my PE RT. I'll probably remove at least the insert on my 2011. I carry sunglasses, anti-fog paste, sunscreen, and an insect repellent stick in my glove box. All traveled well...but I don't live in a scorching hot climate. I wouldn't carry electronics there, not even a garage door opener. The space gets heated from both below and above.

On some RTs the glove box came thru without the insert or insulation underneath. I have kept my camera in mine with no problems. Definitely would not put chocolate bars in there nor anywhere else on the bike.

Insulation for cure

Try these parts to help heat problem.
Exterior Front Insulation Foam Part # 705004427
L/H Insulation Foam Part # 705004428
R/H Insulation Foam Part # 705004429
Heat Shield Part # 705004424
Internal foam Part # 705004426
First 4 parts applied to outside of compartment and require disassembly of center compartment (good size job).
Last part is an insert for the compartment.
I have all 5 on my Rt and it helped a lot.
Good Luck

When I had mine apart to install the CB, I wrapped the glove box in insulation. It still gets warm in there...but no where near as hot as it used to get.

"Glove Box" VS Oven

OMG that's were I have been putting my garage door opener!!!:yikes: Will put it in shirt pocket from now on!!! Or hang it on a string around my neck:joke:. On my RS I could hang it on the wires over by the throttle.( haven't got stock handle bars so wires are out and easy to hang it on) Anybody got a good area to put it where one could get hold of it easily???:dontknow::hun:

Darn it.... I knew it sounded funny when my wife told me to place it on my head while driving. it belonged in the glove box! :gaah::gaah: :shemademe_smilie::spyder::roflblack::ohyea:
