• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Warm Weather Riding Clothes

Down here in SoFlo I use the Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 as well. Works well and has zip in liner if it gets a little chilly. I also like the small collar as opposed to those turtle neck styles that get really annoying.

i'm close to Houston with high humidity and hot weather. The past few days the feels like temp has been 105. I find to keep cool and also be seen, I wear a bright chartruese thong.

Lol.

Love that graphic!

Are there any easy solutions to reduce the heat of the sun beating on the thighs? (I've ruled out the thong idea!)

Get a good quality mesh jacket and riding jeans. Experiment with regular or wicking shirts to see which is more comfortable. In the desert the wicking shirts under the mesh jacket work for me.
:agree: On a two-wheeler I wear armored riding pants; I have both the mesh and regular fabric. But, on the Spyder I am less concerned about going down with a bike on top of me so wear regular pants without protection. I'm experimenting with the Bohn system of under-garment armor so I can have the best of both worlds.

Note; We live in the high desert of the intermountain west, where humidity is much lower than in the east and central plains, so I'm not sure what difference that might make to our choices for riding gear.

For starters, any color pants but black. Black absorbs all wavelengths of the light spectrum* and consequently, black clothes (and gloves!) are much warmer to wear. Check Revzilla and the like for denim armored jeans. They're available in original dark blue, washed-out lighter blue, and occasionally khaki. Lots of manufacturers make black jeans ('cause they look bad-ass, or something), but avoid them. If you opt for mesh trousers, same advice -- try to find something other than black.

Same for gloves. Tractor Supply has some tan deerskin gloves for only $35 (I paid $20 at the store). Deerskin breathes better than cowhide, is more flexible and softer than cowhide, and the tan color is noticeably cooler. Bonus: when you wave at other bikers, they can actually see your hand.

* I know--technically, it's more complicated that that, but I'm aiming for brevity here.

When it gets warm here, I use mesh. I almost lost my life last year when a truck hit me. Was wearing ballistic mesh jacket/pants/gloves and didn't get a scratch on me! It's almost like wearing nothing with all the ventilation you get. You can always put a sweatshirt or something under if you get cool...

$$$$$$ Lots of Wealthy people on this forum

Either your a retired CEO or big bucks self employed guys with lots of spare time to ride across the country full time or your just doing a lot of BS. One thing is for sure I seldom hear anyone use the work "poor" or "cheap" but mostly "thousands". I have a family that requires most my time and most my money and my Spyder F3s has been acquired only because I choose to go into debt and have something my wife and I could share our old age on and still be able to be home for the family.
It seems as though with all the miles you ride and all the money you spend on these toys and their upkeep and extras you could probably put a kid through college and reap the benefits that far out weigh motorcycle trivia. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy my spyder quite a bit but it isn't my no 1 love or even no 10. Its just a pastime hobby or event.

Folks are pointing out the BEST options (in their minds...), because they want to make sure that you are properly protected.
As for me: I'm just CHEEEEEEP!
But I know how to look for quality at the lowest prices!
