• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Want to purchase!

I have a 2013 ST-L with the v-twin and a 2014 RT-S with the 1330. For a "touring" bike like the RT...the inline three is the way to go. More torque, you dont have to keep the revs up like you do on the v-twin. What i run in second or third gear on the v-twin, I can be in 4th or 5th on the 1330. I think the v twin is great for the slightly smaller, lighter ST's and the RS's.

I have had both engines on my two Spyders. I had a 2012 RTS which had plenty of power and was really a very nice bike. A lot of people will say that having to keep the revs up is a pain, but the 998 engine loves it. You just don't shift as soon as the 1330. No biggie. After a year, I traded for my 2015 RTS. Handles better and has a few nice upgrades that I really liked. I think it all depends on what kind of deal you can get on a 2014 or newer bike. You know your finances, so it doesn't matter what we say. If you go for the 998's try to get a 2012. Most people agree it was the best year of that model.

Self-serving input to follow...LOL :ohyea: If the initial investment cost is a factor. I just posted a sweet, very low mileage, heavily farkled, and ready to go 2011 RTS, that's aggressively priced, in the For Sale/WTB forum. It's been an awesome bike and done everything we ever wanted it to do. Good luck and enjoy whatever you end up picking up.

Although I like the 1330 in the 2014 and up RT, if I was looking to purchase my first spyder and wanted an RT, I would look in the for sale section here. There is a very nice looking 2010 RT for $5750. That is a price that is too hard to ignore for someone that is looking to get into their first 3 wheeler. I am amazed that it is still for sale. Good luck shopping.
