• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wanna put your Spyder key on a key ring?

Question: Does anybody know if the electronic chip could be damaged by exposure to the elements? :dontknow:
Drilling a hole (Or uncovering the hole) in it, MIGHT be inviting problems...

WIN_20140525_171116.jpgWIN_20140525_171209.jpg This is my 2014 RTL key
I had my 2008 GS key like that for 6 1/2 years in rain snow sun ice etc.
never any problems
Just use an ice pick in that area, it will make the hole
Don
PS
no arachnid on it and its free

Thanks for the Real World experience!
Free; and no bugs? Time to go find which corpse, I left the icepick in! :yikes: :D

Hi don,
Regarding the location of that hole:
I'm looking at my key right now; Is it JUST to the inside of the Gray outer "ring""
The Black inner covering has quite a pronounced "lip" to it; is that where we start the fun? :dontknow:

I'm at work so I don't have mine to look at, but if memory serves, it was right on the junction of the gray and black. See the right hand picture in Post #24 of this thread.

Thanks!
I'll see what damage I can do to my leg; while I shove the icepick through the key housing! :D
(Take one guess, where the leg is!! :yikes:)

Be careful Bob, we'd hate to see you make a hole in your leg at the same time you find the hole in the key.:lecturef_smilie:

Well, how did you make out. :hun::hun::hun: You should be done by now. As I recall, it was a pretty simple process.

We're in the midst of a fan-dang-TASTIC lightning storm right now... nojoke
I'm enjoying the show, and waiting for the lights to go out!

And The Crowd Goes WILD!!!

 Well...
I went and did it... :yikes:
And the cussed thing still starts the bike!! :2thumbs::yes::ohyea::yes:
I ended up using about the smallest drillbit I could find. I figured that If I hit anything solid; I'd be able to back up...

But I didn't have to!!

The toughest part was feeding the keyring through it...

I did mine with the awl on my swiss army knife. There's nothing solid in there and like you I made it just large enough to let the ring thru. Your's looks to be in about the same position as mine. We're really getting rained on over here right now. Probably the same stuff you saw earlier.

Now I just need to lay down with a compress on my head, and something in my hand;for the headache it gave me to do it!
