There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Walmart vs Target question

I our town, they built a new Super Wal Mart literally 30 feet behind the 10 year old regular Wal Mart, tore it down, paved it and were open a week later.

...Wal-Mart had a target of putting 83 local businesses out of business whenever they opened a new store. If they couldn't do this, they would not open a store in that area...

I don't doubt that Wal-Mart is very competitive, but I also know of small towns that didn't have 83 local businesses where Wal-Mart has opened. And some of the local businesses that were endangered by Wal-Mart in the area i grew up in were the same ones who used aggressive business practices to grab business from the small mom-and-pop stores in surrounding small towns.

"Walmart kills small businesses" was not the case in Rutland VT. There was a K-Mart in a strip mall, down town . . . it closed, and so did just about every small business in that mall . . . a few years later, Walmart took over the abandoned K-Mart, and within a year of opening, every store front in the mall was open and doing business again. Big stores like Walmart bring people . . . small businesses in the same vicinity frequently profit from the people who come to WalMart . . .

hey, this is really cool. This is the first I've ever heard of Wal mart helping out other small businesses. When was this? I want to research it further than a forum thread allows.

plague

I try to avoid wal-mart - like the plague ! they treat their workers like SLAVES. my wife worked for them for 10yrs. and they would always
nickel and dime her to death on pay raises - no matter how good her stats were. TARGET just seem a lot more cleaner and very professional
atmosphere.:firstplace:

I have noticed that whenever there is a Walmart with other stores in the same parking lot, these stores are ones that do not compete against what Walmart carries, so they do seem to do good. Our Walmart has some fast food, two banks, and two other stores in the same lot.

That is pretty much true for any of the larger stores. I see that with Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

We have both Wal-Mart and Target and I tend not to shop at either. I prefer other places instead.
When I lived in Ashland, WI, a new Wal Mart was built. It pretty much decimated the local businesses on Main Street. (A couple blocks of commercial businesses). It took a couple years, but Main St. recuperated there. Mostly boutique and coffee shop type businesses as well as a few professional offices. Ashland draws middle class and retiree people because of its proximity to Lake Superior, the Apostle Islands, and other tourist things. Many hundred year old houses have been remodeled, updated, and now carry $500K price tags.

Target lost my business in 2004 when they told the Salvation Army bell ringers they were no longer welcome at their stores @ Christmas time. I wrote Target a letter and told them that when I make a list of things I think about at Christmas time, the Salvation Army is much higher on that list than Target & that I would be doing my shopping at their competitor's stores that welcome them.

I heard on the news they did the same here in Canada just this past Christmas. I also do not like the Target choice of merchandise, compared to Walmart. So, as a result of the above, I don't bother going to Target any more.

Target is owned by the Russian Mafia........................................do you want to say something nasty about them? Didn't think so.

Target has the treats my dog likes for 1/2 the price of anywhere else. The dogs like target because they can have double the ration from other stores. Wal Mart carries the wrong kind of dog cookies. The dogs are very discriminating.

I generally prefer Target to Walmart because the Target stores are generally cleaner. In my area I don't go to the (Super) Walmart unless it's unavoidable.

Walmart supports motorcyclists.

Walmart gives free waterproof boot covers with every purchase. Please support the store that supports you..........

 How could we forget that?? :banghead:
:agree: :roflblack:
Remember: A FREE set of waterproof footwear is included with each purchase of two boxes of your favorite table wine...

Wal-Mart's in this area are not nearly as well kept as target stores, and target stores carry more oddball stuff, but more expensive. The home stuff is a bit more stylish. I do not frequent either store. I get most my stuff from Amazon that is not grocery. I used to go to Kroger, but recently started using Peapod for that as the wife is pregnant and we are both very busy.
