Had a great ride today but had something happen that has never happened before. I'm still trying to figure out what happened. :helpsmilie:
I was on the RT-SE5 enjoying one of my favorite backroads, doing about 40 and at the point in a gradual left corner where road crossed the river, the left front wheel hit something (pot hole or some sort of transition line between road & bridge) (it was in the shade and I obviously missed seeing it). There was a big bump when the left wheel hit it. Suddenly, the power to the front left wheel just went away, and the right wheel was in control, causing the Spyder to oversteer to the left, and it felt like it was going to put me into a slide to the right and put me in the gravel, and the raised sidewalk and short wall on the side of the bridge. (If I had hit the wall, me and the Spyder would probably have gone for a quick swim.) :yikes: Thankfully, one of my (tired) angels pushed the left handbar forward a bit and it straightened right out.
I think that's what happened. It all happened so quickly, I'm sure there are a dozen ways to describe it more precisely. :hun:
I am well acquainted with the nanny as there are a couple of corners near our place where nanny has made herself known many, many times. But the corner at the bridge today was much less drastic, and the feeling was very different than I'm accustomed to when nanny has engaged before.
I've never felt anything like this before even when we've run the tight twisties in the canyon, and even lifted a wheel.
I'm just wondering if it was the VSS??? or a combination of VSS/nanny???
I sure don't want to re-create the experience .... I just want to understand what happened. :helpsmilie::dontknow:
