There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. VSS/"Nanny" kicking in (thoughts?)

Hopefully this is the right catagory to be posting this thread. I received my RT-S in January of this year. Up until three weeks ago, I had never experienced the VSS/Nanny kick in. Since then, it seems to kick in on a "fairly" regular basis. Admittedly it occurs when I'm taking sharp turns.

My question is why is this just now happening. My riding style is no different now than what it was months ago. In fact when I first got my spyder, I rode that thing quite aggressively JUST to experience what the limits of my spyder were. The VSS/nanny never once in all those times kicked in.

The only thing new to my spyder is the corbin seat, back rest, passenger back rest and armrests. Everything else is the same. The pressure in my front tires is at about 21 lbs. The shocks are the stock shocks, even though I have ordered the 300 lb Elkas.

Could and would anyone provide me some thoughts as to why this is JUST NOW happening with my spyder? Your comments would really be appreciated.

Two things come to mind:
You're driving with more ferocity than you think or maybe the sensor in the seat is causing it.I don't know a great deal about them but it might be something to look in to.

Not sure if this will be of much help or not... I read in another post that a sensor under the seat by the rear shock area :dontknow: ... Had its bracket bent somehow. One the put the bracket back into the natural position this issue went away.

Additionally... I noticed this one day, and ended up learning that I was not taking the corners as I once was. Causing more of a body roll than normal. This is why I ordered an anti sway bar to help in these situations... For the life of me I am unable to stop the nanny in certain situations than IMHO do not call for it.

For example.. 10-20mph curvy road two up...

Good hunting!

Mouthpiece, are you sure that you're not just riding it faster than before? You've had time to learn the machine better and become more proficient at riding it. If you're riding better, it may not even feel faster. Kinda like you hear racers sometimes say that they have to "slow down to go faster". It may not feel faster to you but the sensors in the VSS may feel it. Just a thought.

You did change the seat recently, correct?I just spoke with a Tech on another matter and asked him for his opinion on your issue(The Bill is in the Mail),he suggests to get your dealer to check the install of the seat,to make sure the sensor is "seated" properly.

:agree:That seat sensor may have more contact than the stock. :ani29:

(The Bill is in the Mail),

Are you a lawyer?????? LOL. Thanks guys. I'll have it checked out for sure. Thanks again.

Sorry to be stupid, what is a VSS/Nanny?

Okay. I'm gonna need a gearhead to explain this one. Bout the only thing that I can describe it as follows: It's a feature that equalizes the front wheels so that when making a turn, your one wheel doesn't come up off the road.

Help!!!!!!!!

VSS = Vehicle Stability System. It incorporates the ABS system, several sensors and the occasional temporary and brief cut-off of engine fuel to maintain stability when you exceed its programmed parameters.

Can the seat sensor be bridged or bypassed, I know thats a safety issue. Exactly what does the sensor involve itself with, I know it doesn't cut the engine if you get off running in or out of gear(SE).

I don't have my manuals anymore, but my feeble memory cells seem to recall this... it modifies the programmed front-to-rear braking bias if a passenger (> 40 pounds) is on the rear seat.

I just got through talking with the "tech" at my dealer. Seems that when Corbin installed the seat, they placed the "ya sensor" upside down. Consequently, as my tech explained, the spyder was reading as though a passenger was on it with me at all times. The VSS/Nanny was only kicking in when I was riding alone. (wonder why?) LOL.

Bottom line I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning and running it through a few paces to make sure that this issue has been solved. I guess my caveat for those that are having Corbin seats installed to make sure that your Corbin tech installs this sensor (the one toward the rear and attached up under the seat) correctly.
