• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

VSS Error - Throttle Run Away!

This morning, when I went to start my Spyder, it fired up and immediately died. There was a scrolling VSS error message. I turned the key off, waited a few minutes and did a restart. The VSS error message was gone but it was idling higher than normal. When I checked to see if the throttle was stuck, it started revving higher when I tried to back off the throttle! I quickly hit the kill switch as it was continuing to rev even higher.

I shut it off, waited about 5 minutes and after a restart everything was normal and I had an uneventful ryde to work.

Very strange to say the least!

I had that happen when I put an aftermarket Ebay HID kit in that didn't get along with the bike well. Do you have any aftermarket electrical mods that could be pulling alot of power??? Also I suspect a week battery or connection can cause this.

Same thing here. I added a kit from HIDsquad for the fog lights and when the battery was a little low, I got an error message and the rpms climbed up on restart. Now I just keep the fog lights off till over idle on start-up.

SE5 or SM5?

Perhaps a battery tender would be a good investment for you. I keep mine plugged in overnight a few times a week--- and all winter long.

Full battery works wonders...

My 08 SM has some peculiar quirks when the battery charge is down some. I use a Deltran battery tender over night about every 10 days. This seems to resolve the "not so" funny stuff. This is part of the reason that I am changing over to LEDs except for the headlights. On one of my two wheelers I had a pair of bulbs drawing 54 watts. This total is the draw of both the running and brake lights. I have changed them to LEDs which are much brighter and the power draw is about 12 watts.

For those that may not know Magic Man has some top quality LEDs. I have compared his to two other brands. His are brighter and on close examination the quality of construction is far superior.
